The funny thing now is, IF AJ knocks Usyk out in the rematch the same people praising him will say he was overrated
That counts for almost every fighter. See how in the same division first Fury was bigged up, then Joshua, then Wilder, then Fury again and now Usyk. Wilder and Joshua are in the bin, and if by any chance Fury looks bad again in his next fight, or even lose, then he will get the same treatment. As for Alvarez and Crawford in this thread, Alvarez might get busted juicing again, or Crawford might lose big in the Spence fight if that ever happens, and then they'll be spit out too.
If defining a generational talent as someone who has dominated in their era then yeah Usyk definitely ginger nuts - well if you ignore GGG yes. but clearly you can't ignore his obvious first loss to GGG. So no. Crawford no way - his resume is trash. He had the potential but wasted it.
All 3 are. If you sit all 3 down in any era in history, would they be competitive near the top: not necessarily champion but they're top 10, even possibly 5? Absolutely. The majority of fighters you can't take and move to another era and see they may have the same success. These 3 it's no question.
IMO, of those three, no. Usyz comes closest though. EDIT: have to add Loma as well. His skills are exceptional.
