We all know that Michael Spinks is a much better fighter than Wilder. He beat a top 5 ATG Larry Holmes twice when Holmes was undefeated. But we also saw that Spinks was intimidated by power. Do you think Wilder could beat Spinks through sheer intimidation and raw power?
I don't think Spinks would be intimidated by Wilder. That being said, he would get knocked out the first time Wilder caught him good. Wilder wins inside three rounds.
One look at a Wilder knockout reel and he self-defeats like he did against Mike. Wilder blasts him out in the first.
Spinks had all the skills and tools necessary to outbox wilder. The big question is, how well does his chin hold up if he gets hit by a few of those big right hands ?
I think Wilder will win because he was a dominant heavyweight champion and arguably the biggest puncher in history. Pretty awful matchup. If Wilder signed to fight the heavyweight Michael Spinks, this board would've bashed him endlessly for fighting a blown up light heavyweight. The last guy Wilder fought who weighed less than him lasted less than 30 seconds. It's a mismatch beyond mismatches. Wilder is not a drunkard like Cooney with daddy issues and no self confidence. Wilder would've walked Michael down and obliterated him toot sweet.
True and just before this fight Wilder struggled to put down 40 years old obese MW that came out of retirement. Don't be ridiculous, comparing a bum that Wilder beat years ago when he wasn't even a contender is weak even for you. You compare this scrub to Micheal Spinks, but then say in the same post that "Wilder isn't Cooney"? Cooney is definitely closer to Wilder than this bum to Spinks. I love how you always try to manipulate facts to suit your agenda.
I agree, though it might be earlier. For all the (basically unfair) crap Wilder receives here, he has a Champion's heart and is one of the top two or three punchers in boxing history. At his peak he was one hell of a lot better than Gerry Cooney was in 1987. Spinks would do his ridiculous clown dance for awhile but eventually get caught and knocked cold.
