If true he'd be mad to turn it down...especially if he can get it so he fights the winner...££££ all the way...

The WBC gave Fury like 30 days, I believe, to negotiate with Usyk for a unification. But Joshua activated his rematch clause. So that all but ended that.

Then the WBC announced that Fury and Whyte had time to negotiate before they went to purse bids.

Now, the purse bids are a couple days away.

Anthony Joshua only has a rematch with Usyk because he had a rematch clause. I believe Joshua is rated #4 in the IBF, which may be his highest rating in any org.

Joshua isn't in line to fight for any belt without his rematch clause.

And if Whyte steps aside, after taking the WBC to court and the WBC giving Whyte time to negotiate with Fury and the WBC holding purse bids ... if Whyte BACKS OUT after all that and takes a step-aside fee and walks away from a title fight ... that may be it for him with the WBC. I doubt they'll retain him as their mandatory.

So ... the step-aside fees would be Hearn "cashing out" Joshua and Whyte in terms of the title picture.

They could fight each other. Or Hearn could match Joshua with Chisora (since everyone Hearn promotes fights Chisora)

But Joshua NEEDS his rematch clause to get a title shot. He isn't a top rated contender anywhere. And Usyk has other mandatories that are coming up.

And Whyte is only a top rated contender with the WBC. So, if he walks away from a title fight, after all the commotion he's caused, he'll likely be dead to them.

So, in effect, this is Hearn getting Joshua and Whyte two "paydays" but basically removing both from title contention at the same time.

I don't see how AJ could turn down £15 mil step aside. That's a ridiculous amount to be paid to do nothing.

Well, since he isn't highly rated, if he walks away from a rematch with Usyk it may be years before he gets another title shot.

The Brits are so used to Joshua being in title fights.

But the orgs, after he lost to Usyk, dropped him down in the ratings.

Like I said, I believe his highest rating is #4. (Just checked, he's #4 in the IBF and WBO, and rated #5 in the WBA). And, if he backs out, he may drop down in those ratings again.

After all, Parker got bounced out of the IBF top 10 from refusing a eliminator. If Joshua walks away from a shot at three belts, all three of those orgs may drop him down further than he is.

No he wouldn't, he would likely have a shot by end of 2022.

If Fury even fights Usyk. He’s all talk, I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires tomorrow

Sadly, I think you might be right, and I am a Fury fan. I think he is realizing that his body is breaking down.

Plus he’s on drugs again. I’ve never been a Fury fan but I still think it sucks that he wasted so much of his career with inactivity and pointless Wilder fights

I don't believe it. And to be fair even 5m step aside is huge money. No way anyone will give Whyte 5m step aside money.
Also i don't see Fury really want to fight Usyk. He is just all talk.

Joshua - Wilder would make a lot of money. Would be interesting and entertaining and it'd would be a 'Loser go Home' fight. They'd become gatekeepers for Hrgivic etc.

No, he wouldn't. The WBC doesn't rate him at all. The other orgs all have mandatories coming up this year. He's rated around #4 or #5 in all of them.

Mandatories take "step aside" fees under the agreement they get a shot with the winner of the fight they're stepping aside for.

Joshua isn't a mandatory. Joshua wouldn't be fighting Usyk next if he didn't have a rematch clause. Usyk would've moved on to Fury and they'd have signed that when the WBC gave them time to make it right after Fury-Wilder III.

You guys all assume Joshua will get the winner of whoever next.

But Joshua has no belts. And he has no mandatory status. He's in the middle of the pack with a unification bout and mandatories ahead of him.

All he has going for him is a rematch clause.

If he walks away from that ... he goes back in the line and has to qualify for a shot like everyone else. And I doubt he and Hearn have made many friends over the years, given how far he dropped in the ratings after losing to Usyk.

They won't be doing him any favors.
