Williams? Holman or Paul?

 

Trinidad comes out on top having a lot of problems with Leonard and Forrest who both probably beat the rest on this list, all close fights.

 

I'm taking Leonard and not thinking twice about it. He was easily the most complete fighter of this group.

Forrest, Starling and Williams about the same. These three are all competitive with each other but not bearing Ray or Tito.

 

The only one who i could see beating everyone on the list is Sugar Ray Leonard.

I could actually see Trinidad fairing quite badly in some these match ups. I could see a prime Vernon Forrest's jab giving him fits, Marlon Starling's defence is somewhat similar to Winky Wright's although Starling doesn't have Wright's jab. But i remember Starling giving boxing lesson to an aggressive fighter Honeyghan, who couldn't lay a glove on Starling. I think that version of Starling could definitely beat Trinidad.

Oscar gave a boxing lesson to Trinidad for 9 rounds, Leonard does the same except he doesn't give away the last 3 rounds. I do think Trinidad knocks out Paul Williams who gets hit far too much. And i haven't seen enough of Errol Spence against top opposition, but at this point in Spence's career i'd say Trinidad wins.

None of the others would beat these two on their best nights, but against each other? Probably Starling the best and Spence in last.

3. put the rest in a bag and pull one out. not much difference, maybe, maybe Spence but with no confidence.

 

I'm going to go out on a limb and say:

I can already tell Trinidad's placement won't go over well, but I just don't believe he possessed the necessary versatility to successfully compete against forceful jabs or great (or near-great) boxing ability.

#2 Trinidad He and Leonard probably stops everyone else on this list with the exception of Starling
#3 Forrest heck of a fighter, unfortunately, life was cut short, and a stylistic nightmare for him against Mayorga. Had a heck of a amateur career.
#4Spence Really on the fence between him and Starling here
#5 Starling always which Mookie would you get, would get complacent at times.
#6 Williams , very tall, fought like a much shorter fighter with his activity. A southpaw, but he's last in my opinion.

 

Trinidad would have beaten everyone that Starling and Spence fought.

 

Everyone they fought or everyone they beat? Even if Trinidad could beat everyone Starling and Spence beat, that doesn't make him better in a head-to-head. You could make the argument that he was more proven, but he was also proven to have been easily outboxed by De La Hoya and Wright.

 

He was finished by the time he fought Wright and was better at welter than at 154.

 

Disagree. He was at his best for Vargas and Reid. He had trouble making 147.

I don't think he looked dominant against a coked up Sweet Pea, contrary to what I assume to be the prevailing opinion on that fight. Nothing in his performances convinces me that he's a clear level above, and I say this as a fan of Tito.
