Can only imagine this fight is going to the Middle East or USA. This would have to do 1.6mil UK PPV buys just to break even ? Glad the fight is sort of set in stone now. There’s no hiding, no bottling, it’s on. Even if you don’t like the split Whyte you can’t ***** out now and same goes for Fury, there’s no hiding place anymore.
Edit: for above. I’ve just realised PPV’s of this ilk are no longer £19.95 and this will easily be £29.95 or north of so maybe the buys could go down to 1.1/1.2 to break even, they’d expect to beat that no doubt plus gate revenue so it’s not so far fetched to have it in the UK I suppose.
Top Rank would be paying Fury 20m or more for fight so that will be in the pot. BT Sports might have put up a rights fee as massive for their ppv reputation. Plus if at Cardiff, will take about £10m on gate. Plus PPV sales.
Looking at the AJ vs Usyuk purses. $28 mil total this purse bid seems extremely high. AJ had a 60k live attendance and the purses were based on the fight doing minimum 1.2 mil buys at £24.95 https://www.essentiallysports.com/boxing-news-anthony-joshua-vs-oleksandr-usyk-fight-purse-revealed/ It will have to do more than 1.2 mil and a huge gate to break even.
