In successive fights 3 months apart each, Liston faces

    1) The version of Sharkey who lost to Carnera

    2) The version of Carnera who lost to Baer

    3) The version of Baer who lost to Braddock

    4) The version of Braddock who lost to Louis

How likely would Liston be to go 4-0 against these guys, essentially winning the title 4 times over?

    He stops Sharkey in 4.

    He destroys Primo in 6.

He beats up Baer over 15.

He smashes Braddock to the floor in 5

What odds would you give him of beating all four without a hitch or fluke loss?

Oh I'd say I'd feel extremely confident he could do that.
He'd be facing pretty, much faded version of all of em. I think they were all ripe for a smack down from sonny!

I don’t see how he wins the title four times unless you’re saying he loses to each of those and wins it back from them.

Bear could get lucky and land something but short of that it’s a clean sweep for Sonny

Sonny would have no trouble stopping those guys.Baer would mentally collapse imo.

All of these opponents were clearly past their best days, so it's likely that Liston would beat them all.

He did it once with injured hand against the greatest HW champion in the history. I don't understand why you keep bringing it up every time Baer is faced in hypothetical fight with big and strong puncher. Max faced and defeated plenty of big punchers.

I can even understand this argumentation here, but you also used it in Baer vs Cleveland Williams thread, which is ridiculous.

You are entitled to your opinion.
Personally I think once a fighter has quit ,doing so again becomes easier, and more likelier. Baer faced one man with an aura of invincibility about him and folded in submission.
Liston had that same aura, only more so.
Max would be beat before entering the ring imo.
Apart from Schmeling who had less power than both Louis and Liston and was not even slightly as intimidating, name another puncher on Baer's record anywhere near on a par with Joe & Sonny?
I'd say the best you could come up with would be fat, slow Galento, was he intimidating to anybody?

He should beat all of them on paper.

The only problem I see, is that he is going to be champion, and start to lose focus very rapidly.

A good 75% chance of a clean sweep, maybe 80%.
But nearly certain? That is too high to account for flukes & weaker performance possibilities.

It would be fair assumption if Baer just threw the Louis fight with no effort, but he took a hell of a beating. Most people wouldn't last half of the time Baer did if they had to take so many punches from Louis.

Baer quit because he took horrible beating, not because he was afraid of Louis. He tried to win the fight, he just was outmatched (especially with injured hands).

I won't call anyone as good as Liston, but I can name plenty of punchers in Williams class: Pat Comiskey, Hank Hankinson, Bearcat Wright, Lou Nova, Arthur de Kuh, Walter Cobb, Frankie Campbell. Baer wasn't intimidated by them. He wasn't intimidated by Primo Carnera either and he was intimidating, even if not very powerful.
