It’s £31mil. I don’t think Frank will make a huge amount but the commercial value of the fight is beyond that, with gate, PPV and foreign tv. Frank didn’t want Fury on a Hearn card and paid up. Fighters are the winners here as they split a big purse.
What intrigues me is how much hype Whyte will give the fight (presuming he goes ahead with it) Hearn will be telling him to keep his head down and train as he doesn’t want it to do monster numbers. I think the PPV will be massive.
Frank doesn’t need to pay for an undercard - just get the tunes on and let the wars break out in the stands… Will be an absolute coke-fuelled middle-aged chav fest like an Oasis comeback. Edit: can’t wait
As pleasing as it would be to win the purse bid, I imagine it has to sting a bit that in effect you flushed $10m down the crapper by overbidding, especially when you consider it’s a promoter that has a history of being unable/unwilling to pay fighters their full purses.
He only needs to honour Whyte’s end of the deal and the sanction fees based on the purse figure. Privately he can have any agreement he wants with Fury.
Actually wasn’t Joshua vs Pulev at the SSE Arena anyway? It wasn’t Wembley stadium.. apologies if that wasn’t the point you were making though.
This whole thing stinks, Hearn won’t like it one bit having his fighter on a warren show. I’ll be amazed if this fight goes ahead
I really hope it happens relatively pain free. It’s good for the division - they’ve got to stop all this politics and do the right thing for the fans.
It won't go ahead and despite all this shite be caused by Eddie and Whyte not taking shots (title shots at least) in the past and every matchroom fight having a rematch clause. And Eddie will spin it that he and whyte have done everything and they are the real victims
I do think the silence from both Whyte and Hearn isn’t a great sign. I’d have 100% expected Whyte to have acknowledged it by now at the very least.
What did he turn down for the fight in the states against AJ? ON the grounds he didn't like the rematch terms. He would have beat AJ in the first and given how much Usyk could damage him, you would think he would have sparked him in the rematch, so he could easily have all the belts bit he didn't like the rematch terms. Blokes a total fraud for me
