Mike Tyson vs Muhammad Ali, 4 rounds

Tyson by UD. Ali would be having to spend too much time on defense to stay vertical to score much in the first four rounds.

Tyson was a fast starter as is. If he knows he's only got 4 rounds, the entire fight is going to be a nonstop blitzkrieg from him.

A 12 rounder? Ali, maybe even by KO. 4? Nope.

 

I honestly think H2H Tyson in 4 rounders would be just about unbeatable.

 

Tyson. He knows he can go full pelt for 4 rounds and Ali's not getting the chance to really get set.

 

I agree, Tyson will be more aggressive in a 4 rounder without the fear of blowing his wad, but on the other side of the coin that would make him much more susceptible to counters, and who better to take advantage than Ali?

 

Tyson must be favored at this abnormal distance for a professional fight.
But Ali was great strategically. He was also a higher volume puncher than Tyson overall.
So he would adjust & have a decent chance of winning based upon scoring more & avoiding too much punishment-much easier to do at his blazing fast of foot '60's best.

 

Since both fighters know its only 4 rounds the first thought may be tyson on pts. However, if theres any man that could adapt and find a way, its Ali. Id fully expect him to keep his jab in tysons face for the whole 12 minutes. A 38yr old Holmes had a little success before being blasted out, id expect a prime Ali to fare a lot better

 

Easy win for Tyson, even 60s Ali wouldn't be able to withstand the pressure. The only ones I'd give a legit chance over Tyson in short bouts would be Young Foreman and Liston.

Tucker won two of the first three against peak Tyson and Tyson wasn't holding much back

 

Tucker also staggered Mike early on.

Ali would know quite well what Mike is like in the early rounds. He'd do whatever necessary to win the fight, including moving out of range, both tying him up and pushing down hard on his neck, jabbing the bejesus out of him, landing the lead right just like Buster Douglas did.

And that's not even counting Ali's psychological tactics, which are indubitably significant.

Mike loses a clear UD.

i left this thread for a period of time to see how the vote went and, although its all opinion, im absolutely astonished that people have tyson winning by a 3 to 1 vote. Serious underrating of Ali here lads. If ANY fighter could find a way, its Ali, and i was a huge Tyson fan back in the day

 

Ali stands no chance whatsoever in a 4 rounder.
I favor Tyson over Ali even in a 12 round fight, let alone in 4 rounds.

 

In prime Muhammad Ali, we're probably talking about the greatest Heavyweight who ever lived. I would not expect to see Mike Tyson beat him, regardless of the number of rounds. BOTH would know in advance how many rounds the fight was scheduled for, and would fight accordingly. I'm going with Muhammad Ali by Unanimous Decision over 4, 10, 12, 15, or 20 rounds, except that the longer the fight's scheduled for, the greater the chance that Ali stops Mike. In fact, if Mike tries to go at too fast of a pace because he knows it's 4 rounds, Ali might stop him anyway.
