Ezzard Charles, Ali, Ray Leonard, Hector Camacho, Michael Carbajal, Michael Watson, today Josh Warrington, a lovely BOXER to Watch...

I always prefer the Beautiful Stylish Boxers over fighters.

Cagey & Crafty Stylists like JJW, Lloyd Marshall, RJJ are a pure delight to watch.

other, different types of Slickster like Sweet Pea & PBF are special, if not frustrating to watch, only cause you want to see someone to 'bounce' them, but they can't get them.

Box/Fighters like Hagler, Duran and JCC are just as nice to watch.

then there are the Killers like Marciano, Benn and Tyson.

again, far, far too many Great Fighters have Stepped into the Ring and both Thrilled & Pleased.

but it has to be Robinson and the JJ Walcott types too.

 

Duran for me. Just slightly over Robinson, Napoles and Marcel who themselves hold a small gap over the likes of Pea, RJJ, SRL, Charles, Armstrong, Jofre, Gomez, Harada, Louis, Ali, Olivares, Hagler, Saldivar, Ortiz, Monzon, Chang, Pep, Hearns, Benitez etc.

Era style, footage quality and ruleset all allowing, I'd probably also have Leonard, Driscoll, McFarland, Gans, Langford and the like in that third group.

A dark horse and personal fave with a bit of bias near the top in terms of how good he briefly looked and could have been if he'd lasted longer, beat more top fighters and dedicated himself would be Payakaroon. He was incredible imo for a brief time.

 

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fighter that I thought was more talented than Roy Jones. As great as the talents of Ali, Leonard, Duran and Robinson were, I think Jones was occupying a different space. He wasn’t as fundamentally strong, but his combination of physical gifts were unique in my view.
