If they fought in Argentina and Roy Jr knocked him out it would be scored as a draw.

This thread has been done to death.

There’s a group of people who think that Roy would have been too elusive, and a group who think that Carlos would have worn Roy down.

I’ve seen some great threads and some not so great threads.

I looked on here to see what the replies would be, but it seems that nobody is interested in discussing it. So I’ll give it a pass.

The only reason I’ve commented here is due to your comment.

Whilst your comment is true, it doesn’t allow for context, and it has nothing to do with how a H2H fight at MW would have played out.

A post HW version of Roy losing to Tarver at LHW is completely irrelevant here due to many obvious reasons.

If you were to give this some serious thought, you would only be focusing upon the Tate version of Roy, vs whichever version of Carlos that you wanted to choose at MW.

It would have been a very intriguing fight.

    He won't require your permission.lol

Nothing wrong with your thread, just about ever one of them gets regurgitated from time to time, particularly if they are about heavyweights.More obscure ones on lighter divisions , often don't attract much interest ,even first time around.

I think Monzon would grind out a win here.

You are correct, this thread has been done to death just like Muhammad Ali vs Mike Tyson, no offense on your part but personally it is my own opinion of the winner. Many say speed kills but sometimes speed can get a fighter killed, especially if he is forced into exchanges against a very hard hitting opponent who can cut off the ring. I think for me it is best not to waste my time on trivial repetitive threads, the author is new and did not realize the repetiveness of this thread.

All respect to Monzon but speed gap here is just different worlds. Roy made quick boxers look slow. Carlos is more accomplished at the weight and would ofcourse rank higher on a all time middleweight list.

How is he gonna get Jones to stand still?

The question should be can Jones take a right hand of an all time great that has 61KO's to his credit, tall and very rangy. Fast and flashy sometimes is not enough if you do not have the punch to make your adversary respect you.

Jones hit plenty hard at 160 to be fair.

That's not the case here. Jones had 1 shot power at 160 and 68.

My question is if Jones can take a hard right hand of Carlos Monzon?
