Why do people say this? SRR has a long list of scrubs that he not only fought, but lost to. You know boxrec exists right? Listen I understand he was in an era where they fought regularly so it was low quality, and they were always far away from peak condition. You’re not comparing the same sport really. You can’t just ignore all the scrubs that SRR lost to though, if that’s a criticism you want to make of other fighters.

You haven’t watched SRR or looked at his losses later in his career have you?

No way, during Robinson era boxing was far more popular and fans didn`t have to pay to watch fights on TV, there was less channels also, Robinson was a huge star and household name in the US, Roy may be more famous now but was never a global star, when Turpin beat Robinson it was a massive deal in the UK.

He wouldn`t have been able to bulk up to heavyweight without PEDS.

Because he stuck around WAY too long, got caught using illegal stuff, and avoided a few fighters.

If Roy had retired after the Ruiz fight, he'd be considered a top 10 ATG.

Because Ali and Robinson didn’t have a Glass Jaw. Were not scared to fight the best sometimes even multiple times. Didn’t carefully maneuver through divisions avoiding the best fighters. Roy your whole career was smoke and mirrors. In the era of a thousand belts you never beat a lineal, unified, or THE champion in any division you fought in. Think about that for a minute.

Pretty sure that he is judged the same as Ali and Robinson. He was arguably the best fighter of his generation. The only real competition is Whitaker. Robinson was the best fighter of the 40s and 50s. Ali was the best of the 60s. Roy or Whitaker were the best of the 90s. Ali was probably taking something but lived in an era before testing. I don't know about Robinson, but I wouldn't put it past him. I assume that everyone who was ever great at sports was a cheater in some respect.
