Drozd had a chronic injury, though.

The only intriguing fight out there was Valdez.

Patterson was still at LHW, Jackson's swarming style would have gotten him killed, Johnson was a LHW, Satterfield too chinny, Baker not enough power...

You're right. The fact the mid 50s were bereft of talent left him with no worthy challengers for him to prove whatever he may have had left to prove.

I hope he still comes back. Among the 168 canelo challengers, he was the most talented and he did the best. I had him comfortable against canelo before that freak of an uppercut.

The big obvious one that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the first George Forman retirement!
Then there’s multiple Sugar Ray Leonard retirements

I agree totally with those who’ve named Naseem Hamed, he could have dominated for another 4-6 years and I include rematching and beating M A Barrera in that.

Calzaghe could have fought on for another 3 or 4 fights
Lennox Lewis could have made the effort to get in shape and fight another couple of times

Audley Harrison still has a lot to offer the heavyweight division. The journey of A force is not yet complete.

Nicholas Walters. He could challenge any champions in FW and SFW and win.

Seems his spirit was gone after the last fight

He'd already lost interest by the time he fought Lomachenko, got to feeling himself and partying too much after flattening tiny Vic and blown-up Nonito. Guy never had the right stuff to win that Loma fight, but he might not have stayed on his stool if they'd fought a couple years or so earlier — by the back end of 2016, he was just turning up to clinch a decent purse.

He had a degenerative back injury, a lot of money and said himself that the fire was gone but 26 seems astonishingly young for Colin Jones to walk away.
Having said that, as a young man, he was made for life and went on to give real value to amateur Boxers in South Wales.
No slurred speech or side effects from the game. Like his manager, the late and very great Eddie Thomas and unlike so many others, Jones knew when to walk away. Before the game got painful.
