Which boxers was the best at pissing off his opponents?

I hate to tell this one. Rather than try to get around the quote box and break the rules, I will just put asterixs myself and leave it to your imagination.

There was a press conference with a bunch of the leading heavyweight contenders...Greg Page was there, I think, various others. A reporter asked Cobb what he thought of the other fighters there, to which he replied, "Baddest bunch of ******* I ever seen in one room."

Yeah, its the worst thing you could think of. And it did not go over as a harmless joke. A lot of people were very upset.

Looked it up and got it slightly wrong. It was a dinner with some very famous guys, and it was Renaldo Snipes that got pissed off.

Cobb told him "Relax, I wasn't talking about you."

 

There was a helluva lot there. I believe it was Snipes that took offense. Cobb told him to sit back down as ain't nobody talking about you or words to that effect. Sensational putdown.

 

Don King pissed off more fighter than anyone in history.

 

Had a dust-up with Renaldo Snipes after their title fight. Think Snipes got his forearm cut because they were cutting off his hand wraps.

Mayorga was the all time king of legitimately pissing off opponents. He taunted Cory Spinks about his brother that was murdered, slapped Mosley's wife on the ass and threw all kinds of slurs at Oscar that I can't repeat here without risking a ban. His opponents legitimately hated him and probably still do with good reason. He was a mean dude.

 

Fury, Ali, Holmes, and Johnson come to mind.

 

Ali pissed off his opponents. Other opponents pretty much talked trash because they were imitating Ali. They didn't really **** anybody off.

 

Montreal is one of the few fights where one has said he was psyched out due to the pre match trash talk. And the footage support this imo.

Otherwise, guys seem to get extra mootivated of trash talk rather than losing their cool. Futch thought that Frazier perhaps became too angry in Manilla and didn’t fight as smart as he should, though.

 

Jack Johnson.

Just mentioning one that hasn't been yet, Briggs "let's go champ" schtick leading up to his fight against Klitschko was hilarious and it seemed to **** off the big man eventually.

 

During the Mercer fight, Larry and his wife were yelling a conversation back and forth, iirc about dinner. imagine being schooled by an old has been about to steal your 0, and while he's beating up on you, he's discussing dinner with his wife.

Kudos to Larry's wife for the assist.

 

In fairness, he wasn't wrong there. You put your SON with all of 10 fights up against a prime Holmes? One of the worst overconfident dad moves of all time.

And then Joe repeated the same mistake, only this time with Tyson. Jesus.

 

Eubank pissed Benn off about as pissed off as you could be pissed off not being pissed on.
