I think Jeffires proved to be the best fighter of his era quite clearly. Johnson just started to reach his prime by the time Jeffries retired and although he was credible contender, it wasn't that clear that he's by far the best fighter in the world outside of Jeffires. Without hindsight, we shouldn't blame Jeffires for retiring - Johnson officially lost his fight vs Hart after all.

Jack wasn't in Harry Wills position during Jeffries reign, you have to look at Johnson's best wins before Jeffries last fight - young McVea, Sandy Ferguson, Denver Ed Martin and George Gardner is solid resume, but does it shout like "the best fighter in the world"?

If you give Marciano modern PEDs and designer drugs then he would actually Tua vs John Ruiz Wilder, no cap

Wilder is bad, proven against bad fighters, lost 3 times to a washed fury, is not even a top 3 heavyweight in the current era which i dont regard highly

Lol I really feel sorry for people like you. So if a 5'10 180 pound fighter take steroids it will automatically make him a heavyweight? Then why don't these 180 pound fighters do that?

Also little kid learn what washed up means. Lol how in the hell is Fury washed up when he has never lost or took that much punishment (Besides being knocked down by Wilder)? Also Tyson Fury is 6'7 250 pounds and Marciano was 5'10 and 180 pounds. Maybe you didn't know this but there are weight classes in boxing for a reason right?

If Wilder was 102 years old and Marciano was in his prime I would still pick Wilder by first round knockout.

Marciano knocks out Wilder in the first round every single time they fight. Rocky would use his height to get under Wilder's windmills and land that Suzy Q right on his glass jaw.

Lol actually we do know Rocky Marciano couldn't beat Ali because of logic. Marciano was a slow 180 pounder with no skill. Ali was a 6'2 1/2 215-220 pound guy with skill. It is like saying we wouldn't know if Floyd Mayweather could beat Bob Foster. Foster is much bigger than Mayweather and would destroy him. Ali would destroy Marciano. Wilder would destroy Marciano.

Also kid Rocky Marciano is anything gets far more credit than he deserves. He was a no talent third tier hack who was fortunate enough to be Italian in a era where the mafia controlled boxing. Marciano beat old men, tomato cans and mafia controlled fighters but yet is still praised by people like you.

Nino Valdes was the number 1 contender in1953 and 1954
Marciano did not fight him ,instead he defended twice against Charles no2in1954 and Cockell no 2.in55. Valdes had beaten Charles and would crush Cockell later.

    Jeffries could have fought
    Russell
    Martin
    Childs
    Ferguson
    McVey
    Klondike
    Johnson
All would have been better opponents than
    Corbett 2
    Munroe
    Finnegan
    Kennedy
    imo.

You can do that with any other HW fighter in history, maybe with the exception of Louis and Ali (and even them have some light defenses as well).

But nobody is claiming any other heavyweight cleaned out his era and was clearly the best of it, except you.

Wilder is/was a hyped puncher who struggled to win at times, beat nobody, and would be taken out.

Agreed, Rocky has to fight coming forward and he's going to get hit by that right hand of Wilder's. Be a miracle if Rocky go's 2 rounds.

Right and then you read what I just typed little kid? If using modern drugs could bulk up a 5'10 180 pound fighter to weigh over 210 pounds and allowed them to fight at heavyweight then why don't modern 180 pound boxers do that then?

If Marciano was alive today and decided to bulk up on steroids he would still get knocked out by every single last heavyweight today but his frame is still that over a 180 pound guy.

Marciano was garbage when he actually fought and he would be garbage now.
