Lets be honest. Ray Mercer buckled Holmes knees with a jab. Maurice Harris was able to hurt Larry Holmes. Lol Lennox Lewis again go hit by hard punching David Tua, Bruno, and Vitali and didn't go down. So Lewis chin is good enough. If Renaldo Snipes knocks you down then Lewis would kill you. You see how you can spend things the way you want too?
Who cares? Ali still admitted to losing to Ken Norton three times. Even with George Foreman, Ali didn't lay on the ropes on purpose. According to Ali, George Foreman trapped him there and he couldn't get off. According to Ali his only plan was that he hoped he didn't get knocked out and hoped Foreman got tired. That isn't high ring IQ that is just getting lucky. Also little kid you are trying to apply the A beats B so A will automatically bet C logic but only when it benefits you. Lewis could be beat and Holmes could be beat. Lennox can be knocked out since he was knocked out twice and on that note I block you. You bore me.
Lewis couldn't even knock an over the hill Ossie Ocasio who Larry outclassed and knocked out in his PRIME. Holmes simply beat better fighters, all of his opponents are not one dimensional. Snipes had erratic, wild style who could box and punch, Weaver is a tough fighter who's h2h skill have been often underrated, Tim Witherspoon is talented advance technician and Bonecrusher is a dangerous puncher who possess an iron chin. You're just a bias Lewis fan claw, every argument you make is just a dumb way of defending Lewis. I can still remember clearly the stupid response you gave regarding Lewis's struggle against Mercer. Do you wanna know what you said? Mercer just HAD HIS NUMBER. That's probably the stupidest sh*t I've ever heard claw, the stupidest sh*t I've ever heard. You talk about styles make fights A, B, C and all that's stuff but don't even understand it actually even WORKS. Lewis is an all around non dimensional boxer puncher and he struggled against a one dimensional crude slugger. What happened in the fight is that Lewis, got outjabbed and outpunched by a ONE DIMENSIONAL SLUGGER CLAW, DO HAVE ANY IDEA HOW F*CKING TERRIBLE IS THAT?? At least Holmes actually overcome stylistic disadvantage THREE TIMES. He beat Norton, Witherspoon and Berbick. All three of those guys should've beaten Holmes fire possessing stylistic advantage but they didn't. It seems that his "extra reach" didn't save his day huhh?? Yeah, now you understand that having a longer reach doesn't magically make you able to outbox you're opponent. The A, B and C style makes fights doesn't works everytime. A often beats both B and C too. Wilfredo Gomez couldn't beat Azumah Nelson who lost to Salvador Sanchez.. Did Gomez had a chance of beating Sanchez? Yeah, he DIDN'T and that's gonna happen to Lewis. He struggled against Mercer who Larry schooled, Larry beats Lewis especially in his prime. And if you think Lewis had a better jab than Holmes, than take a look at this: Oliver McCall: BEST JAB LARRY HOLMES: Larry Holmes definitely had the best jab. In the fight, (he) gave me a lot of problems by having such a quick, long right hand that made the jab more effective. He had a stiff jab. The jab I experienced from Larry Holmes was the jab that I seen him use as a young kid and he was heavyweight champion. I actually caught on to it a bit coming up and it helped me use my jab more. As a matter of fact, I think my jab is more like a Larry Holmes jab now than when I fought him, so I’ve learned some things. Ray Mercer: BEST JAB Larry Holmes: I learned how to throw my jab off Larry. He had one of the best jabs in the world, ever. I’ve got to give that to him; his jab was awesome. He used the jab for a lot of things: to hurt you, set up the right hand, he used it well. Mike Weaver: BEST JAB Larry Holmes: Larry Holmes and Razor Ruddock had the best jab. I think Larry Holmes was the best out of the two. It was accurate and straight. It wasn’t a hard jab; it was a good jab. Pinklon Thomas’ jab was harder than Larry Holmes but as far as being better and looking better, I say Holmes – it was faster They all said Holmes had the better jab.
Snipes could punch a bit if nothing else. Your argument is pretty weak:Holmes was how old when he fought Harris and Mercer? And an ancient Holmes beat Mercer up easier then Lewis did he not? Snipes was kinda like Mercer was he not? Only difference is Holmes gets up and Lewis doesn't.
In a 15 round fight it's very close after 12 then Holmes starts connecting with his right and begins to dominate. He either stops Lennox late or takes a UD 144-141 type fight. It would be a hard fight for both men, I just see Holmes as more battle tested if a shoot out did in fact occur.
Larry Holmes was an exceptional fighter. Lewis would be dealing with something he never experienced before but the flipside is also true. Don't discount the Big Dog. Lawrence got into major trouble with lesser boxers. Lennox could be losing some rounds to Holmes but one well time right hand changes the fight. Big Dog was known for destruction. I do give Holmes a better shot than most. He would have to be at his best.
Larry had the chin to go to war but not the power. Lewis had the power but not the chin. I almost think a war favors Holmes. Despite not being a big puncher, he knocked plenty of guys out, especially when he timed their head movement right (see his fight with Marvis Frazier for a great example). My hesitantation about declaring Larry the winner here is reach. How often did he have a reach disadvantage?
Well I already mentioned the Klitschko fight, and the Golota fight wasn't a war it was a one sided demolition. I guess my definition of war is two way action. With both boxers in the trenches going back and forth.
Lewis had a decent chin. Not sure where tf you’re getting that from. He most likely beat more big punchers than any heavyweight champion.
Funnily enough both mens Achilles were the right hand McCall, Rahman, Snipes, Shavers 2. The difference is Lewis never recovered from getting knocked down Holmes did. I could see Holmes getting put down by a right hand from Lewis. But I see Holmes weathering the storm, and having the better stamina down the stretch and winning a close decision. I am still a little suspect whether Lewis could go 12 hard rounds. Where his stamina is put into question. I just remember how tired Lewis was after the Mavrovic fight. And that was hardly fought at an amazing pace.
