Guys, in all honesty -- Is Danny Jacobs finished at the top level or as a fighter

He's not finished but he's declining and if he wants to make some money with better fights and opponents he should do it now as i think in 2-3 years from now he's that kind of guy who's getting KTFO by upcoming elite prospects who packing some power. Saying that...John Ryder is arguably a Top 3 SMW so there is no shame in losing to him.

 

Shouldn't be loosing to Ryder even closely if he wan'ts to compete at world level. It's probably time to hang em up. He arguably lost to Rosado and Ryder although a different type of fighter is that type of guy. He will cause people problems but isn't that next level to win a belt.

 

I think he's on the slide a little. although he just doesn't always look that hungry or motivated especially in recent fights.
It depends whether he's looked after the money he''s earnt. he's certainly not shot or anything just not sure he has the will to get a belt at this point. I had Ryder winning 7-5 but even if you had it the other way it's unlikely he would get the win on away soil. He needed to win and by some margin but just didn't seem that urgent to me.

 

He probably could go on to have a career in commentary. He's finished as a top fighter, tho.

 

A lot of people seem to think losing to Ryders a shameful thing


But Ryder has improved ten fold and has some awful decisions go against him hence the number of loses on his record

Its not a shameful thing to lose to this Ryder at all

Saying that Jacobs is clearly on the decline

He can still earn good money but the title shots may be done

Alot depends on his next fight i guess

 

You can tell by the way he just smiled and walked out of the ring on Saturday that his heart isnt in it anymore.

He wasnt angry or upset at the decision or at himself for losing, he just strolled out through the crowd smiling.

I think he's made all the money he wants and just needs to head off into the sunset I dont think hes interested in becoming a name on someone elses resume.

 

Had it not been for the Rosado fight I too would have agreed.

 

At 35 and based on his last few fights, he's on the slide and his performance levels aren't what they were a couple of years back.

Should he want to carry on he could still take some scalps at world level though. John Ryder is no mug....

 

I had it 115-114 for Jacobs but it was Jacobs that allowed this fight to be lost. Ryder didn't hardly do anything but pose on the outside for the first half of the fight then the second half went like I thought it would. Jacobs looked like he didn't want to fight, and I think top level guys at 168 would have ko'ed both men.

 

He's done. He didn't have 12 round cardio the other night. He seemed to gas by the seventh. His accuracy on powershots to the head is not there anymore either. I thought the fight was a draw or mayble slightly to Jacobs. Thats two fights in a row though. If it looks like Rosado beat you, and you have a close fight with this version of Ryder it is time to hang up the gloves.

Jacobs is still competitive, just had an even fight with Ryder on the road, but is looking faded in there.

 

Jacobs is no longer a king maker. He is post prime and will lose to a number of people at this point.
