This is likely true. I wish it weren't, because I think Wilder could still put on some fights that would be worth watching. Honestly, that last Fury fight was very exciting even if it wasn't entirely warranted, and the heavyweight division needs more excitement like this at the higher levels.

This statement suggests that Wilder KO'ing Ruiz is a virtual impossibility. Will you be betting on the fight? Because I predict that the bookies will have "Wilder by KO/TKO/DQ" as the most likely outcome. And if I can get even money or better, I will definitely take Wilder by KO.

If the Ruiz that fought Arreola turns up Wilder KOs him inside 3 rounds,if the Ruiz that fought Joshua the first time turns up it gets a lot more interesting but hard to look past Wilder by KO at some point during the fight .

 

Wilder seems to have 1 foot out the door, these bully type of fighters seem to lose all confidence and motivation once they experience there first loss. I think ruiz sends him into retirement.

 

The only person ruiz might send into retirement is colonel sanders.

Honestly, a motivated Wilder would smash ruiz, and even an unmotivated wilder would still beat him.

 

Ruiz had one great night against AJ but his typical MO has been struggling with washed up Liakhovich, washed up Kevin Johnson and washed up inactive Arreola, winning decisions over 10 or 12 rounds in competitive fights. He looked OK against Parker but his losing performance wasn't any better than 37.5 year old Chisora's. His KO record against even journeymen opponents in the last 7 or 8 years has been poor. He was dropped in the 3rd round by AJ and was dropped in the 2nd by Arreola, that's 2/3 of his last fights and Arreola hurt him multiple times. Wilder would be the biggest puncher Ruiz has faced by some distance and he would be gunning for the KO, especially as he's been stopped in his last two fights and surely wants to get one over on AJ.

Ruiz hasn't fought since last May, even though he said he would be returning from injury in December. His whole career he has ballooned up and down from well over 300 lbs to as low as the mid 240's. He's made a huge amount of money since AJ 1 and wasn't diligent with his training even when he was relatively poor and a non-world champion, now he's 32+ and obscenely rich and famous in Mexico. He knows that his style and attributes only consistently work well against a certain type of plodding, B/C level fighter and that he'll never be a world champion again.

In terms of style and body type, Ruiz is especially similar to Stiverne. However, Stiverne was a better amateur, is taller, longer, less obese and a much bigger puncher. Based on their mutual performances against Arreola, prime Stiverne looks better than Ruiz. And Stiverne got battered and schooled by Wilder in Wilder's first championship fight. If Ruiz turns up in Arreola form, the fight will look something like Wilder-Stiverne 2.

 

As I stated in another thread if Wilder is serious about continuing his career he should get back down to 210-215 and fight Andy Ruiz. If Wilder is in shape he should stop Ruiz.
