Floyd holds the record for most current/former world champions beaten, at 22. Canelo has beaten 16. Can Canelo break the record before he retires? If he beats Charlo, Andrade, Benavidez, Bivol, the winner of Beterbiev-Smith, and Makabu, he'll have tied the record. I can't think of who could feasibly be next for him to fight and beat to break the record.
There is a good chance that he will. Alvarez is still in his prime and in his early thirties. He still has a long career ahead of him. And he prefers to fight champions. With so many alphabet titles flying around these days, it will not be hard for him to break Floyd's record.

Who cares? Everybody is a champion these days. Canelo (or Floyd for that matter) could come beat me up and claim the old-fat-man-super-duper-belt. As long as somebody paid the WBA,WBO, etc a nice chunk of change, they would recognize it and all their fanbois would tout it on social media and add it to their trinket totals and that would be that. It's all bull**** now.
