Everything about Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall was awful

It wasn't just the crooked judging that left a bad taste, the fight itself was awful. Johnny Nelson coming out with ''these scorecards will put off casual fans'' but does he really think that if the right man was declared the winner that this fight would gain new fans? Catterall was just spoiling all match, the ref was an imbecile that punished them both for something pointless yet missed most things that they could have been punished for like Catterall punching Taylor at the back of the head when he was down.
Taylor looked like and fought like a zombie and if styles make fights then these two will always produce a boring, awkward, clumsy and frustrating to watch boxing match.
Catterall won but a rematch would be a snooze fest.

 

Agreed. It was an absolutely horrendous fight to watch.

I was also surprised the ref didn't call Catterall up for hitting Taylor when he was down. Especially when he took a point off Taylor for tapping Catterall on the body after the bell.

 

Lefties fighting each other can look awful sometimes .. but ya this wasn't the best fight to watch.. crazy how a fighter the stature of Taylor went from looking so exceptional to so awful in one fight.. Reminded me of Lopez V Loma in some ways.. there will be legit reasons for it I don't doubt that and JC is obviously pretty ****ing good to be able to nullify Taylor like that but this whole thing left a sour taste.. & for anyone arguing that this was even close just go look up at how one sided the punch stats are and how poor Taylor's output was.. they are bad man!! I hope Taylor isn't shot already.. I hope something actually happens here and this one is a game changer because the decision was ****ing awful but I won't hold my breath.. Davison has to go too!

 

Let's be honest though that's the least of the controversies surrounding this one… Everything about it was horrendous… The judges, the ref, the post fight cowardice of most of the promoters & company men not calling this **** out

 

As a fight, I enjoyed it, the result was absolutely blasphemes.

 

Huh? Yeah, there was a lot of spoiling and hugging, but the fight was entertaining. Catarall's left hand couldn't miss Taylor. I thought Taylor was gonna get stopped.

 

The fight was exciting and dramatic. Maybe you didn't watch it live

 

The fight was reasonably entertaining but the quality, for a title fight, and Taylor in particular was poor.

Surprising with Taylor's caliber that Catterall almost exposed him.

 

I thought Catterall was excellent. Perfect gameplan.

 

The over officiating by the ref, and the hit and hold tactics made it awful to watch at times. But the high drama going down the stretch made it a very fun fight to watch. Still had Catterall winning tho.

 

I agree I didn't enjoy the fight.

 

Horrific fight to watch. Cattrell held the whole time and should have been docked for it.

The ref sucked. Inserted himself way too often with his spineless threats.

 

Agreed, horrible officiating, had me yelling at the TV .

 

I watched it live....it was awful

 

Not one I will ever watch again for sure. Deleted same night.
