Tyson was a far better fighter than Douglas however Buster`s size would always be a problem for Mike, his 83 inch jab may still be too much for Mike despite Tyson being the best fighte in history to slip and counter the jab, he wa just too smal for a heavyweight despite being awesome under Rooney, I think Buster might have beaten him however Mike did drop Buster and that was without proper prep and a set of clowns in his corner, I say a 50/50 fight.
Tyson by KO. Buster fought a nearly perfect fight to take him down. A worse version of Buster would get caught earlier, when Mike had the energy to finish the job.
Douglas had the motivation for the 90s fight, in 87 he lacked the main factor for him to win. Losing to Tucker ended up being a blessing in disguise.
Tyson struggles but, as Tucker did, catches Buster late. Douglas wasn't motivated as he was in Tokyo. (I'f the Tokyo fight even actually happened.!!)
I was speaking about his height and reach, Bruno didn`t have Buster`s ability and Smith just hugged Tyson all fight.
Tucker did have Busters ability though, and he couldnt really put up a consistent effort to stop Tyson from fighting his fight. 87 Tyson just had that edge to him to outhustle bigger guys. In Tokyo he lacked the sharpness.
Since Douglas deserved the win against Ferguson in 1985, a Tyson bout could very well have happened in early/mid 1986.
