If Fury really does retire following Whyte what is his legacy?

Nah. you can't just say he beats everyone that's bollocks. that's not how it works or has at anytime in the past.
So yeah he does need to beat AJ and Usyk otherwise there's a question mark.
If he retires after Whyte his "legacy" is poor. it's not what you could have done it's what you actually did that counts.
I see him fighting AJ as that's a big money fight for both. I was never convinced he wanted Usyk and that maybe screwed now due to the troubles in Ukraine. Even if we ignore resume and just go of H2H. then for me he's still untested to be certain about how he stacks up he beat an ageing Vlad and a limited. unskilled and untested Wilder. So not great from my perspective. I like Fury and have followed him from the start but I'm also realistic and objective when I look at his career.

He never break the top 10. His win over an old Wlad who was 39 year old, and Wilder who floored him 4 times is his career is the best he has. Wilder didn't fight anyone young or good so his resume and a bunch of no names bedsides Wilder and old Wlad. If Wlad then 41 was in focus he fought AJ, I think he wins but that is another story.

If Whyte who is overrated and mocked but legit top 10 opponent in my eyes wins pull Fury's name out for the top 25 of all time. If Fury wins and prematurely calls it quits the guilty PED abuser top 20-25 with many question marks.

 

He's above Mike Tyson

After he sparko's Whyte in 3 rounds people will call him the H2H GOAT

Good valid points points mate and pretty much my thoughts too for the most part. I wouldn't personally describe his legacy upto and including Whyte if Fury wins as poor per se, but it's not brilliant and HOF worthy in the true sense of things.

And you're right in differentiating the difference between "potentially" and "actually" beating another fighter, regardless if it's likely or not. Classic pudding and proof. It's factually just subjective untill the fat lady sings.

I'm very much hoping Fury doesn't hang 'em just yet though. Two more big fights and wins after Whyte will make all the difference to Fury's Legacy.

I'm really looking forward to the Whyte fight. Can't come soon enough for me.

Victories against Wilder are yet to become historic. The rest of his legacy is not so impressive, but a victory over White could fix that.

I hope he fights more myself. I'm looking forward to the Whyre fight I just hope nobody pulls out at the last minute. If he beats Whyte it's a good win. despite the heat that Dillian get's on here half of which I think is unfair. he comes to fight and is generally game.
I agree with you if he fights another 2 top dogs after Whyte then that will improve things greatly. I fancy him against Joshua if he's fit as for Usyk well we just don't know what will happen there. I hope Usyk can come back as I like him probably the most out of the current generation followed by Fury. I just want all of them to fight so we have some clarity. It will be a waste if they don't and will leave lot's of unanswered questions.

He won't retire, so it's not really a discussion worth having imo.

Fury beats Tyson imo.

There is signifcant size differences that Tyson would not be able to combat.

Lewis vs Fury would be interesting, I see Lewis taking it though.

 

He'd have a better resume p4p than Andre Ward and some try to claim he's one of the greatest ever.

 

Imo Tysons bodywork would break Fury down, Tyson isn't exactly Wilder.

Tyson has had to deal with slick outboxers in the past, maybe not has huge as Fury, but still.

Fury's never had to deal with such force and pressure.

 

Fury's legacy is greater than boxing. Similar to Ali.

His battle against mental health and showing depression can be overcome is what Fury will be remembered for.
