It works both ways CJ. I can accuse you for scoring matches against Canelo because of your bias against him and you can accuse me of scoring matches for him because I'm a fan. Whether you're a hater or a fan of a fighter can create bias. All I can tell you is I go into matches with an open mind and genuinely try my best to score matches fairly regardless of who is fighting. I thought Canelo outclassed GGG especially in the first match with his boxing skill, counter punches, no one ever hung in there with GGG like that or executed a well thought fight plan and landed heavy leather on him like Canelo did in their first match. It was a great fight and unfortunatly your hatred of Canelo I think blinds you to how effective Canelo was against GGG and how great both matches were to watch, regardless of who you were rooting for. The ring generalship by Canelo against GGG especially in that first match is very under appreciated around here. GGG showed some ring generalship as well, but Canelo set the tone as to how that first match was fought and the movement and footwork surprised and frustrated GGG. Canelo was on another level with how he forced GGG to fight his fight in the first match, and then we had the role reversal in the rematch which was GGG attempting to bait Canelo into a war, only for that to backfire on him. Sadly you have delusioned yourself to label Canelo a "blatant cheat" for reasons that you have either invented or misinterpreted. Now as it relates to Mayweather, I tend to agree with you to a large extent as it pertains to him being protected by the NSAC and getting preferential treatment. Where you cross the line is when you accuse Canelo of getting away with what Floyd got away with, which is just objectively unfactual but you perpetuate that idea anyway. I think you overplay your hand with some of your opinions, namely with what happened to Margarito with the loaded gloves. And as it pertains to SRL Hagler, once again I don't think your bias and your love of Hagler allows you to accept that he lost to SRL. Hagler fought the wrong fight against SRL, Hagler was overconfident thinking he would wipe the floor with SRL and SRL had a big surprise for him, SRL used his footwork and peppered him with lightning fast combinations and won that match going away. It's always fun to see underdogs pull upsets against heavily favored front runners who many fans gave no chance to win. That's what makes boxing great, but unfortunataely for you I think you're too blinded by your GGG and Hagler love to accept what happened to them when they met their match.
So in your mind 85 % of boxing people don't know how to score a fight huh? That was the overall percentage that thought GGG beat Canelo in fight 1 the fight you say Canelo won going away LOL. Fight 2 was closer Canelo was roided up like a mini hulk LOL But still the boxing public scored the second fight for GGG too Even juiced up Canelo still couldn't beat GGG not even close to doing it.
I said SRL won the Hagler match going away, not Canelo GGG lol. Learn to read funny boy. It was clear that Hagler lost. He gave away the early rounds and SRL was too elusive and active for Hagler to comeback. Despite this obvious win by SRL, the media cards were still very split. Why do you think that was? It's because Hagler was the overwhelming favorite, SRL was coming out of retirement, going into the match, very few gave SRL a chance in hell of beating Hagler. So even after a clear SRL win, the media was split on who won because so many were biased in favor of Hagler winning. If 85% of boxing people thought GGG won the first match against Canelo, what % of those 85% were invested in GGG winning? What % of that 85% predicted GGG would win beforehand and scored it for him to back their prediction? Media scores typically are a mixture of what happened and biased scoring due to who was expected to win. GGG was expected to win, so at least half of those 85% were just media people giving GGG enough close rounds to back up their prediction, and outside of that, you had a split between GGG winning, a draw and Canelo winning. You need to understand how biases and expectations affect media and fan scoring.
In answer to your thread, I have to say Sugar Ray Leonard, he threw the most punches at the rounds end to steal the rounds. The score was pretty accurate, Marvelous Marvin Hagler was too pre occupied with dollar signs and breaking Carlos Monzon's record of 14 successful title defenses. I would have not taken that fight, no matter the fan's displeasure, they are not in the ring to complain. Hagler should have met Tommy Hearns again. After such a fierce battle with John The Beast Mugabi, the Leonard fight was all wrong for him. I have never been one to make excuses for any fighter upon a loss, even my favorites. I have always respected the judgement of the designated licensed boxing judges, many might disagree with this but I am not a licensed boxing official, just a boxing fan.
All these punches missed but gave Ray a lot of confidence, Ray mainly tyhrew flashy harmless combos to catch the judges eye in this fight. https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxSxWPAsUI5VbI-fTpxUV42sKfdjJc7nhm
Leonard… but only just… the flurries at the ends of the rounds count… Def one of the most controversial fights of the era
Hah our families must be related. Both have passed now but since my dad worked 2 and 3 jobs snd my mom worked a lot as well we were practically raised by our grandparents. My gramps liked boxing but he was really big into baseball. We’re from North Jersey and he was a Yankee fan. He would get lit up on scotch and scream and yell at the TV. Whenever they would be winning and call in a relief pitcher that he didn’t like he would say…..it’s over they’re sending in the clowns lol. We used to watch baseball, the occasional fight and he loved to play monopoly. Lots of time the above was while we shared drinks. Grandma would hover around and liked to verbally poke at him and their arguments were legendary.
Hi Shadow We had a bet about Brook and Khan You lost and agreed to write a post on GGG and how well he did against Ginger nuts Please hurry up and honour this bet Its now over two weeks
We sure did, and you indeed won the gentleman's bet, but what's the rush? Are you questioning my honor? https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/gentleman's_bet A bet in which no money is bet; only the honor of the two parties is at stake. There is no need for proof that one party's side of the bet has been fulfilled; he or she is taken at their word.
That entry in to wiki wouldnt wash at a bookies lol Not questioning anything but curious why its taking so long as you have found plenty of time to post about flat Earth mumbo jumbo
