Really good fight this, Michael Conlan getting the step up in class. Personally still am not sold on him and think Wood will have too much for him. Gary Cull vs Miguel Vasquez should be a very good test of GC. I fear MV could get jobbed in the UK for the 3rd time. Caoimhim Agyarko is fighting an unknown Mexican. Rest of the card is moderate but the main 2 fights are decent.
I’m quite a Conlan fan, for whatever reason, and have followed his career with real interest. He has shown some limitations in the pro game, namely his lack of power is a worry, but he has still looked good in parts. I’m of the opinion he beats Leigh Wood quite clearly, but it’ll be an interesting test of styles. I would imagine it won’t be a barnburner, I don’t think either will want to get involved and it’ll be a technical, rangey affair that suits Conlan more.
I’m picking wood, he looked great in his last 2 fights. Conlan is a tricky customer but I don’t think he hits hard enough to keep wood off him.
I like this card, but if you're not into women's boxing, it's quite thin obviously. Too bad Galahad-Castaneda got postponed.
Heading over for this as are alot from Ireland. I agree that Conlan has not been overly impressive as a professional but a year ago would have been fancied to get past Wood very easily. I'm not sure how good Can Xu (for me he's probably no better than TJ Doheny) and I expect Conlan to win although Wood could have a considerable size difference on the night. Galahad v Castaneda would have been a really good undercard fight but I expect a big performance from Gary Cully. Most likely points win as Vasquez is tough.
Kid picked up a minor injury in last week or so. Fight to be rescheduled for April or May. A hit to this card though & unfortunately nothing in it's place.
im interested in Caoimhin Agyarko, ill watch the main card (obviously), but for some reason i just cant warm to Conlon, and im irish.
Good fight. I’ve not been impressed with Conlan recently but feel he should have a bit too much for Wood.
I’ve seen that Matchroom have segregated the arena with 10 blocks for fans of Wood and 10 blocks for fans of Conlan. Very good idea IMO and should help reduce crowd trouble. Hope it’s used going forward at all events.
Interesting fight but I don't think either guy is world class. Dickens outboxed Wood quite comfortable so one would think Conlan is capable of doing likewise. Not sold on Conlan and I don't like him, hope Wood wins. Wood needs to get Conlan to get involved in a rough fight. If so I would fancy Wood to stop him. If I was Wood I would be taking a leaf from Froch against Bute in the same arena and take one if need be on way in. Then when inside he needs to rough Conlan up and unload on him. If he does that and is fitter I would fancy Wood down the home straight.
