Judge from Catterall vs Taylor fight is downgraded after review!

With the number of robberies we see in boxing, it's surprising to see such a big deal made of this but then again it rarely happens in such high profile fights and in fights that were so clearly one sided. I honestly can't see how anyone scored that fight for Taylor, even if you give him every close round, he still clearly loses.

 

I guess 200+ “idiots” on here last time I checked must be wrong as well, I’ve watched this fight three times and still didn’t score it for TTT and he’s one of my favourite fighters.

Not sure why they downgraded him over one round.

I still see it similar to when watching live
I scored rounds 2, 5, 7, 9, 10 to Taylor but rounds 11 & 12 I felt could go either way

I think Catterall boxed the better and looked the more composed. He looked like he landed the cleaner shots but as said previously, I don't think Catterall really went to rip the titles away (that doesn't mean I didn't score him as the winner but is where I can see some debate)

I wouldn't see a problem with anyone scoring rounds 11 & 12 either way.
I did score those rounds to Catterall but think they were debatable.
If someone scored the first 10 rounds the same as I did and 11 & 12 to Taylor, they would have it as a draw

 

Come on get real some of the judges scorecards & refereeing performances have been so bad that they were either incompetent or point blank CROOKED!! There are no other logical explanations for them
The sad part was a while back a forum member spoke to Bob Bennett & asked him if the NSAC were going to investigate Adelaide Byrd's ludicrous 118-110. He laughed & said " Adelaide is one of my best judges she just had a bad night, so no, we wont be speaking to her" Don't know about you but that shows me they don't care & just ignore them. The days of MAY THE BEST MAN WIN seem to be over Now its Who is backing you get you the win today

Whilst I have mixed views on VAR in fitba', I think Judges for boxing should at least be watching a video stream where they can see the action clearly. I have always found it hard to rationalise how someone can accurately judge from a fixed position at ringiside, and in this day and age they can effect change there.

I believe a LOT of the supposed "home cooking" in fights come because the refs can't really see the action super clear in terms of angles, and very partisan reactions and noise can really effect their judgement on what is a scoring shot and what is not.

Whilst I scored the fight live to Catterall, I have seen aquite a large number of folks who were at the fight live score it for Taylor, and assume that they were influenced a lot by the atmosphere, and the fact that Taylor was the aggressor in the last 4 rounds with Catterall being very economic.

I've yet to watch the fight back, but given it was such a scrappy, messy affair i've yet to get the motivation to go through it again. But, whilst Catterall boxed beautifully in many phases through 8, he WAS very economic and let IMO let Taylor back into the fight after the KD and his lack of activity, and Taylors perceived ascendancy (at least by the crowd) likely swayed the judges, and Catterall could have taken that out of their hands by dominating at least 9 and 10 rather than coasting. But of course the counter to that is he didn't feel he needed those rounds (and Jamie Moore kind of doubled down on that in the corner).

There were a lot of hard rounds to score, as even though Taylor was a shadow of his normal self - in no small part to Catterall - he was scoring scrappy shots, and starting to connect more to the body in rounds 9-12, but it was very hard to score some rounds IMO.

I had it 14-111 to Catterall on the night, and doubt I would see it different on rewatch, but you never know; the fact some folks on this forum argue that it wasn't a robbery does make me want to see it back at some point.

 

No she's still haunting the big fights like all the other vegas suspects.
