Suppose in 1988 spinks decided to take the cherry picking route and have another pay day against a named opponent who was seen as past it like Cooney instead of fighting Tyson. So he signs to fight George Foreman in June of 1988. At this time George was around 9-0 in his comeback and either 39 or 40. Assuming spinks took this fight seriously and wasn’t petrified of old George like he was against Tyson, could he win it ?
Oh lord, this one rly could have happened in winter of 87, in between Cooney and Tyson. Milking that title even further....
At that point spinks had already been stripped of the IBF so no real title would be on the line. Claim to lineage yes.
I think this could potentially be a Spinks win, on points obviously. Maybe that akward style never gives George a chance to set his best shots. But there's also a good chance of a Moorer type win for GF, a shot from the blue.
