Let's say Foreman of the late 80 s, early 90 s. Could he stop iron Chinned, George Chuvalo? I actually see a distance fight, can anyone see it differently?
Depends on a lot. If Old George want's to go out banging then yeah most likely, If it's the version 70s Foreman fought it's the most likely outcome.
He could get a referee stoppage. But even in his prime he did not really have Chuvalo staggering. Although he was landing a lot of brutal punches. Chuvalo could have actually tired out young Forman if the fight had of been allowed to continue.
Can you imagine if that fight had taken place in say, the 1920 s!? Chances are it doesn't get stopped, till one of em falls.
Not impossible but unlikely. Foreman was whaling on Chuvalo and to the point where he wasn’t even fighting back. Chuvalo’s manager called for it to be stopped and mind you this was a guy who knew exactly what his fighter was capable of taking. This content is protected
No, Because George Foreman was an offensive minded fighter back in the early to mid 1970's, we saw what he did to poor George Chuvalo in 1970. The come backing Foreman with his bald head, smiling on television, selling grills was defensive because he realized the only reason for his comeback was for his church, the desire was not there anymore like when he was younger. He did retain his punch but he was more methodical in his approach. He did get tagged more, the Alex Stewart fight is a prime example. If he had been more aggressive like he was the night he stopped Joe Frazier in 1973, he would have regained the title against Holyfield in 1991, instead of his laid back comeback style. Chuvalo would have always come forward, that was his style but George did have a chin made of granite, never having tasted the canvas. This fight would have been closer but George would have won it on points in my opinion.
Depends on Chuvalo's chin. I find his chin severely overrated and I won't be surprised if Foreman stop him easily. Foreman has 10x better technique when he was old and was very smart making you lead to his uppercuts. He might just uppercuts Chuvalo's head off
I am really not sure. A stoppage is certainly possible, but a decision win by Foreman is the more probable outcome.
There was an interview with Chuvalo. His wife was screaming for the fight to be stopped. And yes he was getting hit hard but he was not hurt.
He must have been a good actor then. Spitting blood and dropping his arms while backing up. I didn’t know people faked that shlt
you’re right, Red!!! He was just getting smashed in the face repeatedly in a corner without punching back hoping that George would wear himself out. Brilliant !!
old Foreman, for me , likely grinds Chuvalo down with jabs and body shots for a tko in 8 rounds or so, similar to the Coetzer fight
