Do you think? I couldn't really tell due to the grainy quality (and my crap eyesight) which was which. When Oscar has his back to the camera, he looks markedly bigger to me. Anyway, thanks to @Dynamicpuncher for the find. Glad he joined the forum. A good poster and he digs out stuff like this to boot.
Oscar was the WBO Lightweight champion less than a year and a half before winning the WBC Welterweight strap from Pernell. Oscar was rehydrating around the same fight night weight he did in his 3 fights at 140 as he did in his early days at 147. I don't see how it's not feasible for a prime 25 year old Oscar De La Hoya from 97/8 who was the p4p number 1 boxer in the world vs a 25/6 year old Chavez from 88/90 who also was the p4p number 1 in the world in a fantasy match at 140. Oscar still beats up although Chavez goes the distance this time without quitting.
Fair enough. This post would sit well on @Showstopper97 thread about victories being downplayed as the loser was past prime when prime for prime, the result would have been the same. You make a good point. I'm still going JCC at 140 for reasons stated before but your opposite view is hardly outrageous.
