GGG, clearly past prime, looked great and dominant in that first Canelo fight - it was competitive but not close. GGG steamrolled him 8-4 which was so so super impressive.
He was old when he took out Canelo in the second fight 7-5 but it could be viewed a draw. Being even older this might be an even more impressive accomplishment.

Debating the Jacobs fight is borderline laughable. He dominated 8-4 if we're being generous and scored a hard knockdown. Again, this was done as a well past physical prime man.

I dunno that we'll see as dominant of an elite puncher and boxer again for quite some time, possibly for the rest of our lives. 365-5 as an amateur, Gold medals at the World Championships and Jr. World Champions, Silver at the Olympics. Blue chip as blue chip gets. Then he comes under the tutelage of Abel Sanchez who develops this diamond into a single minded devastating puncher.

First ballot hall of fame. A modern classic.

I had Catterall winning 114-113 but that's not what happened. Taylor beat Catterall whether I agree with it or not.

I don’t think he won the Canelo rematch.

"steamrolled" that's funny. No one in their right mind would describe what did GGG did there as steamrolling Canelo. You don't steamroll somebody 8 rounds to 4. Steamrolling somebody involves breaking them down pummeling them into submission. Canelo is far too slippery to be steamrolled, especially in that first match which had Canelo using movement, slipping punches, was never hurt or in serious trouble. The best you could argue what GGG did there was outpoint Canelo. He didn't come close to steamrolling him.
Hopkins was 46 and a half when he beat Jean Pascal in the rematch, 10 years older than GGG was when he lost to Canelo.

Please, stop it. GGGs entire career revolves around what Canelo does, that’s an absolute fact. The man literally built his entire career and legacy on being a stepping stone for Canelo Alvarez. Since getting beat up by Canelo in the 2nd fight he has done absolutely nothing since except get beat up by a glorified journeyman. I’ve literally had to sit here at witness this man fighting bums and has beens on HBOs last multi million contract while claiming other fighters are ducking him. Fact of the matter is that he wasted his career under k2 promotions crying wolf about people ducking him then when it was finally time for him to step up he under whelmed and his fan girls brought out every excuse under the sun and actually defended his hypocritical ducking because they don’t want to see their hero lose.

His career is going exactly how I pictured it was going to be, he’s a man who threw his career and integrity away for money, if you people haven’t seen that by now then idk what to tell you.

I respect your opinion about scoring the first fight a draw and the rematch for Golovkin.

The first fight was Canelo clear in the first quarter, very close in the second quarter, clear Golovkin in the third quarter, and close again in the last quarter.

The rematch was very close fight throughout.

If GGG went up and KOED them as well they would become instant bums from the haters. The Ring magazine contenders that GGG plowed through were considered very good wins for Sturm, and linear Champ Martinez, these guys go life and death, and GGG Demoralised them. It's just the way it was. For them a great legit win, for GGG according to the haters they were bums, but that was because GGG was just so much better.

Look bro, not sure why you're trying to rewrite history. GGG has an abysmal resume, it's solely based on a draw he had vs Canelo Alvarez and a close fight where he lost. You don't get credit if you're on the losing end of close fights, I thought Rocky Juarez beat the great Macro Antonio Barrera and the undefeated, long reigning featherweight champion Chris John in his first fights with them. Other than that he has David Lemiuex, Matthew Macklin and Daniel Geale as his top 3 wins. It's not other fighters fault that he was with K2 promotions and had nothing to offer.

again, GGG shows up to the middleweight division and plows thru any contender that would fight him, Ring mag and alphabet contenders alike, KOED 17 challengers in a row in highlight real fashion, he isn't famous for being robbed by Canelo. He was famous before that and holds the middleweight title defense record with a ridiculous 18 Highlight reel KOES.

He wasn't robbed by Canelo, lets get that straight. Even if you think the decision was a robbery, that's not Canelo's fault. Be mad at the judges, don't put that on Canelo. He's just a fighter. Both matches were too close for either to be seen as a robbery, this is the problem you have. You don't call a close fight a robbery, and when you do, it suggests you're exaggerating and trying to compensate for something. But I do agree with what you said about what GGG was famous for before he fought Canelo. The KO streak was outstanding, and in a way it's a shame that Jacobs ended that by going the distance before Canelo. I think it would have meant more had Canelo been the one to end that KO streak, but that's not GGG's fault. GGG was the legitimate boogeyman at Middleweight. Canelo stepped up though and beat the boogeyman, he deserves credit for that, and it's a shame that you can't bring yourself to tip your cap to him for what he accomplished over those 24 rounds.

But win or lose, there's no shame for GGG to draw or lose to Canelo. Many have said that GGG gave underwhelming performances vs Canelo, did less than expected, but I don't really subscribe to that logic, I think that's a negative and glass half empty way to look at it. The way I see it is that Canelo just rose to the occasion and did far better than anyone expected, especially in the first match, that it was more Canelo performing out of his mind than GGG performing poorly or suddenly looking past prime. And that includes Canelo gassing in the mid rounds, that was partly because of how much he was using his legs, which he doesn't typically do, it had a lot to do with GGG also but it was more due to his fight strategy. But as far as GGG is concerned, losing the decision shouldn't really harm GGG's legacy, he gave Canelo his toughest and most grueling fights to date. He may not have lived up to his own hype and expectations when he as known as a KO artist, but he gave fans the tremendous thrill of taking Canelo to the limit twice and producing such fan friendly battles with Canelo. That was what the fans were craving and the fans weren't disappointed with the classics they produced. Hopefully he takes care of Murata and we can look forward to another classic encounter in September.
