I voted for 3 although after reading both 2 & 3 again I realize the truth is somewhere in between. Ruiz was certainly an overachiever but he did use questionable tactics & he was very limited in skill, speed & power. He's the perfect definition of an average Heavyweight fighter yet his resume shows some big, and some quite dubious wins.

I disagree. Ruiz tried to engage more & hold less vs. Toney, it was a noticable improvement even though he clearly lost. He kept it closer than I expected.

I actually felt bad for him during that fight.

Then I remembered the faked low blows & **** & I said **** you Jawny.....................

Good point. I still think the truth lies between 2 & 3.

Howcome you never criticised Hopkins for faking low blows and holding but rightly do when It's Ruiz?

Only Haye is a better heavyweight to Ruiz.

Wlad and the rest are distant third...

Ruiz could beat Haye, Haye lacks Inside fighting.

I guess Haye will have to take him out from outside.

When they fight for the undisputed unified linear championship, it will be the greatest heavyweight fight since Hector vs. Achilles. Gods will buy front row tickets.

Hopkins was a talented fighter who only began to degenerate toward Ruiz-like tactics as he got older. It doesn't excuse it, but it's not like he built his whole career on it.

The reason I find Ruiz particularly offensive is that without the cheating, he's nothing - a regional beltholder MAYBE. It's that he attained a status in the sport he never would have without cheating and corruption that is the issue!

He seems a combination of numbers 2 and 3. He is one of the most painful fighters to watch that I've ever seen. He holds, cheats, fakes, cries and is just awful to watch. Wow he is awful to watch. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he has been succesfully overachieving for years now. He has some good wins has held a title and been ranked in the top 10 for most of the past 6-7 years or so. He's had a succesful career and has probably made some good money. I just don't want to watch him again, I wish he'd go away, and maybe he'll bring back that pimp outfit again.

Boring fighter. Seriously, id rather watch Nascar or Golf than most John Ruiz fights. The only ones I somewhat enjoyed was Golota and Tua.

    Owned by Tua.

    Hugs to win.

    Gift vs Golota

Gotta go with big Nick to finally end his career....

I know its not a big possibility, but I hope big Nick Valuev knocks him out.

Beating Otis Tisdale and Jameel McCline shouldn't be enough to get a tittle shot.

It's got alot to do with race, I think. The reason King has been so invested in him, is because he is Latino. A huge part of the boxing buying public, who more often than not, have nobody to identify with in the heavyweight division. Yawny has just enough to hang with the top (with a little help from his friends). I guess strange as it seems, King couldn't find anyone better to fill the role.

    Cheers
