Tim did some sparring at Mayweather gym. I think it was only a couple of sessions.

But I totally agree he would really benefit from a full camp in the U.S.

Or at least the last 4-6 weeks like GKJ seems to.

 

Yeah it's a good call, I was impressed with Tim on the weekend though. I was impressed with how calm he was, especially after the knockdown, he's gonna need to improve his defense though.

 

Seems like a few of them are there now for the short term glory and dollars. I may be wrong but i'm sure Tim had better movement up until the Horn fight.
After that he was fed underweight cans that he could stand still and throw punches and has fallen in love with that style and his trainers aren't addressing it. too busy adding up the numbers in their bank accounts.

 

Not looking good for the planned April No Limit PPV.

So the May newcastle show was next one on their tentative schedule. (After the Garside fight of course)

Any ideas what may be cooking? Will Nikita be introduced to Tszyucastle?

 

Look, I'm sure they love the kid & want what's best for him but they need to do better. My key point is that fights at the pointy end of the sport can be won & lost on who the sparring partners are. Using locals & randoms overseas for sparring simply isn't good enough & won't cut it at the elite level of the sport. There's some good local talent that should be in the mix as sparring partners depending on who the opponent is but not exclusively relied on. They need some world class guys to do a consolidated block of training with during the 10 weeks leading up to the fight.

On the subject of fights, there's a couple of decent Junior Middleweight matchups coming up that could determine Junior's next opponent if he's not facing the Charlo v Castano winner next. Tony Harrison v Sergio Garcia & Erickson Lubin v Sebastian Fundora. Timmy Tool Time should be looking to face one of the winners with Tony Harrison preferred in my book. Let's hope they can organise a better training camp with world class sparring for him next time out.

 

For sure Nikita is next up in Tszyucastle. Load the undercard & it will go off.

We've got three shows in April - Harry Garside fighting for the Australian Lightweight title with another 2021 Olympian Paulo Aokuso making his pro debut on the undercard next Wednesday night. A fortnight later we've got Jason Whateley, Dana Coolwell & the big one - Ben Horn fighting Ben Kite for the Australian Welterweight title. Then it's Michael Zerafa v The Headsplitter on 20 April with Neeka Johnson fighting for an IBF World title as the main support. There's a No Limit show in Tszyucastle in May along with Jai Opetaia's world title shot on 11 May along with the return of Justis Huni & another couple of very well matched undercard fights.

That takes us through to the next appearance of the Emperor in Bleak City on 5 June.

 

Andrei Mickhailovich vs King Davidson and Jerome Pampellone vs Lucas Miller, both over 8 rounds, have been added to the April 13 Tasman/D&L show in Brisbane.

 

I can't disagree with any of that, Tim is falling in love with walking through opponents and got away with it (just) against not a known heavy hitter in Guasha last weekend. He's a KO waiting to happen at the big end of town if he doesn't address this issue..... that aside, great fight back and a few more tough opponents and he's on his way to fight the no 1 of the division probably this time next year.

Jerome impressed me in the 2019 worlds and has been busy as a pro. Ready for some better opponents.

 

Its good that our boxers at Peach boxing here in West Auckland can come over and fight your guys. We just don't have the depth in our ranks for them to stay here.

Pampellone was meant to fight John Parker but covid restrictions ended that.

 

Always happy to see our brothers from over the detch fighting on Aussie soil.

I think a Clay Waterman rematch could be very interesting.

 

What's the latest on Jeff Horn has he officially retired? I thought he was maybe coming back on the Breidis Opetia card but looks unlikely now. I have to admit that he is a decent pundit for Fox Sports better than the mumbling Jeff Fenech and the senile Barry Michael.

 

That's high praise for the Horndog's commentary skills. I think he's okay on commentary - in small doses. I've always liked Barry Michael as a commentator. He's seen it all & knows what he's on about. Jeff can be overly negative & whiney which is a turn off. Happy to hear what he's got to say but would prefer it in smaller doses. I predicted a Horndog comeback as being inevitable years ago. I guess I've still got another couple to go before I'm proved wrong. Should have made a genuine run at a Junior Middleweight title shot in my view. Plenty of good guys for him to face domestically leading up to it. If he resumes now, he may end up getting pole-axed by TOT - The Other Tszyu.

 

I haven't heard anything official but I agree, he's a good pundit and will only get better.

 

That is why I didn't mind him as a pundit he doesn't play the rusty trombone on the local lads like Ben Damon and Co.
Agreed about his career he will get slaughtered if he isn't matched carefully.
