Of course Ali could FLY, self propelled, multi directional, infinite altitude.

BUT, of course he had a fear of flying, even if he was the pilot, the co pilot, the auto pilot, the fuselage, the wings, the jet engines, the whole kit and kaboodle.

Due to nerves, he had a few near misses testing himself out earlier in the piece and therefore decided to ground himself. It’s one thing to have super powers but it’s another thing again to be able to harness and properly manage them.

The ability to float in the ring? Yes, correct, that was Ali tapping ever so slightly into his super power - that was as far as he was willing to take it.
