Your Opinion On David Tua, Vs Ezzard Charles??

Charles was the more skilled fighter but I don't think he had the tools or the style to keep David off him all night.

Tua KO inside 5 rounds.

 

Charles would beat him by clear decision.

Skill wise Charles is one of the best ever, but he's not close to being a great heavyweight. Ezzard would use his skill to avoid Tua for some time but if Marciano could get to Charles so could Tua. Pound for pound Rocky was a brutal puncher but I believe Tua hits far harder than Marciano ever did. Tua by KO

 

I'm not convinced he hurts Tua enough to discourage him. At best I see this going like Bowe vs Hide.

 

He's certainly closer to a great HW than Tua...

Based on what? Tua isn't half the fighter Marciano was.

 

I think some people need to really look at Charles Hw record. Charles a man with one of the best records ever at Hw is a not so good HW while a second rate contender is.

I’d favor a prime Charles to outpoint Tua. But Tua scoring a knockout isn’t out of the question. I realize that ezzard was an ATG and in fact possibly p4p #1 all time. Meanwhile Tua was very limited and at times overrated. But for all their differences, many of which favor Charles, Tua is still dangerous.

 

Yep, this sums it up. It’s either Charles on points or Tua by KO.

 

Nobody.. Charles’ resume and list of wins is miles beyond Tua’s. And If it were that simple then the outcome would be a forgone conclusion… but it isn’t.. for all his shortcomings Tua had three major assets:
1. Lethal power particularly in the left
2. Iron chin - never stopped
3. Awkward style
Ezzard Charles in my mind may be p4p the best fighter of all time and he certainly COULD outbox David Tua. But Ezzard had some off nights to lesser guys and was KO’d by a nasty left hook from Walcott which was one of Tua’s best punches. There’s no getting around the fact that this is a treacherous fight for Charles.

 

Tua got schooled by Chris Byrd, got outboxed for large periods vs Rahman, Maskaev. And even got a gift vs Monte Barrett, I think Charles wins a decision. Tua is one dimensional and can be outboxed.

 

Tua is not very skilled, but he's a much bigger puncher. He KO's Charles.
