Neither Usyk or AJ's purse for the rematch will mean they are going to be struggling to pay the rent or put food on the table. Each of their bank balances are going to increase very favourably, so A or B side all is well financially.
I am more concerned about him from a mental standpoint, as opposed to physically. Think how hard it probably is to concentrate on training when there’s a war going on in your homeland, and family and friends are in danger. He said in the interview that he has multiple friends who are currently missing, which means they could already be dead. Plus I’m sure he’s going to be thinking about the fact that he’s likely going to be returning to Ukraine to continue fighting in this war after the AJ bout. And then to top all that off, he’s under a ton of pressure to win this fight, as he is representing Ukraine on the world stage. I guess if I’m looking for a positive in this, I’d say this lowers the chances of him being screwed on the scorecards. Imagine the outrage at the judges if Usyk fights a great fight and schools AJ, bringing glory to Ukraine in the process, only to be robbed on the cards.
Embarrassing. It’s true though isn’t it, you’re desperate for AJ to win so any disadvantage to Usyk (in this case, a war!) is good news for you.
No it isn't. I personally think Usyk is making the wrong decision fighting so soon after the war, but if he thinks he's ready, that's up to him. But the reality is you'll be jizzing yourself silly Usyk wins, and if AJ wins by any means you'll be "meh, another out of prime fighter to add to AJ's record of old men, post war Uysk doesn't is not best Uysk so it doesn't count lol".
I don’t get anywhere near emotionally invested in the outcome of fights to be ‘jizzing myself silly’. People would do well to remember it’s just a boxing match and nothing they can do can impact the outcome.
It’s incredibly unlikely Usyk has been anywhere near actual combat. He’s probably Ukraine’s greatest active sportsman - he’d be a massive prize for the Russians and there’s no combat benefit to having him near the frontline.
