If Foreman had been in his 40`s during the 70`s (i.e. 40 in 1970) how would he have fared in that era at that age, would he have become a world champ?

He’d have beaten all of them except maybe Ali & Holmes on points.

Top 5-10. I happen to think he was pretty overrated in his comeback and there is quite a variety of fighters that could defeat him.

Ali, Frazier, and Holmes would have slapped the crap out of him. Quarry, too... maybe. A fight with Shavers would have been fun to watch. Lyle stood a good chance.

If we take the best of the 90s George...1972 Norton MIGHT have beat him. Past 76 Ali and Norton would have lost imo. He could've beaten Leon Spinks and possibly John Tate, the latter is a bit doubtful...

Norton would beat 90s Foreman imo. Also the guys coming up in the late 70s would have a good chance, Dokes, Weaver, Coetzee...

Coetzee would probably get slaughtered imo. Dokes' chin was a bit iffy and his stamina wasn't legendary. Weaver might be interesting.

His defense would be vastly better and his pacing himself might lead to him lasting longer in fights. But his savage two fisted attack might not be as lethal which is exactly HOW he easily destroyed Frazier and Norton. Not sure he’d fair better

Frazier would have londed far more shots on the older Foreman he was far slower by that stage than a prime Frazier.

No, he was far slower and was out-boxed by the limited Morrison.

Frazier? It isn't like old George hit any less hard than young George. It wouldn't have been an immediate steamrolling, but eventually old George would land a flush bomb or two and end Frazier. If he gets a shot at Frazier while Frazier is champ, he grabs the belt, only to lose it to Ali. Lyle and Quarry beat him as well.

If we place old Gorge down in the late 70s, he beats Ali for the belt, blasts out Norton, gets steamrolled by Holmes, has a rough fight with Shavers where he gets rocked badly a few times but ultimately stops Shavers.

Except we know that in the real world, he cannot take Foreman's power. If anything, Foreman was stronger and hit harder when older. It wouldn't be a quick fight, he'd be whacking Foreman over and over with that hook until he finally got caught, but when he did, it would be over.
