This article was written in Dec. of 2006. At this time, Arum had told him that he had to fight Margo in June of 2007(which is why they fought on the same card). After Margo fough Williams instead, and lost, he changed his tune. He also went against Arum's wishes and tried to make a fight with Oscar in May of this year. Right now, he has no choice but to fight Margo. There are no other lucritive fights out there for him. Although I'm picking Cotto to win, I agree with San Rafael. This is not a fight that he particularly wants.

That isn't my own "logical" version of events, though this is what we were told by Top Rank's publicity people. The rumors were that Margarito upset Arum when he passed on the Cotto fight in the summer of 07'. Now, if that was true would Margarito be getting this fight now? Would he still be in Bob's good graces?

Top Rank is a unified organization strictly controlled by Bob Arum. The fight would have come off last year if that is what Bob wanted, and he would have put enough money on the table to make it happen. Cotto got the fight with Judah, and Margarito was asked to step aside. Everyone agreed they would save face by concocting a tale about mandatory defenses, and they would fulfill their long terms goals down the road. Which is what is happening now.

Again, Cotto may have indicated a certain measure of self doubt or submitting to the idea that he may not pull this off. At the press conference he made a special aside and said whether he "climbs out of the ring, or goes down" he will do either "as a champion."

This is a classic case of a fighter with to much heart and will and not enough skill getting handed a beatdown by a fighter with as much heart and will but much more skill, speed, etc.

It will be a great fight:)

That's how it's always been - you train hard and you stay commited till fight night and the fear is held back... Antonio said exactly the same thing that this was a great training camp, that there no injuries, that he's prepared physically to the battle and that he expects to have his arm raised sat nite. Now, it's up to the experts and fight analysts to preview how their styles will match up. I personally have an idea but I can be wrong as everybody can. This last presser gave me goosebumps b'cause these guys are really mentally very strong, this event will be mega big!

He does not know what the **** he is talking about.
Cotto actually WANTED this fight :patsch

And when Cotto shows his superiority, I will laugh at this guy.. I have quite a few quotes from him that I will bring up post-fight.
