Over 80% KO rate but couldn't even get a knockdown on 'Nelo. Why was he not able to translate his power into hurting Canelo?

Probably for the same reason Canelo couldn't KO Golovkin… Because he has an iron beard? Did you really need somebody to spell that out for you LOL

    Easy to answer.

    1. Canelo is hard to hit flush

    2. Canelo has a proven iron chin

Combine those two and he is damn near impossible to knock out.

In 24 rounds when they fought, Canelo is the only one to visibly get hurt....

For the same reason GGG couldn't take out Jacobs or Derevyachenko. That's another level of opponent, not his usual cannon fodder.

Golovkin wasn't knocking out fighters of Alvarez' caliber. The better the opposition the less chance there is for domination or knockouts. The best fighters see punches coming so they don't get caught as much. Also, a lot of the top fighters (Not named Tommy Hearns) have God-given great chins.

A combination of Clenelo hiding out in the coop until he saw the signs of ageing and decline he'd been biding his time waiting for, having a very good chin and defence, and jacking himself full of PEDs. Pretty sure no one else has KO'd Clen either or even dropped him.

Very true. Hard to find better chins than GGG and Canelo. If they fight again, they both would be smart to focus more on the other's body.

Your Ginger headed fraud is an expert at fighting cannon fodder. Ginger had to rely on Vegas corruption to give him two decisions he did not deserve against GGG GGG Rules Canelo & best of all Ginger knows it LOL

He ran the first fight, so there’s that. Good chin, so there’s also that.

I think it's basically the defence and possibly some PED help thickening his neck area.
Even the calibre of opponent is not necessarily a reason as journeymen can be harder to KO than champions due to chin or style.
Smith recently explained how Canelo was hard to hit clean. I think Kovalev also pointed it out.
I think we see the pattern. It's not really his chin, it's his defence.
We know Golovkin did hurt him a few times and we know Canelo has been hurt by smaller fighters.
    But he's hard to catch.

The idea as soon as Golovkin ''stepped up'' his power was exposed is laughable. Jacobs got hurt bad and only survived because he was moving very defensively. Golovkin also dropped the Derev midget but wasn't 100% in that fight. He recently stopped Murata. Even Groves couldn't stop Murray and Golovkin did. Golovkin has visibly hurt every single fighter he's fought, including Canelo.

If Canelo hadn't developed such a slippery defence, but brawled more, like Froch, he could still have been an ''elite'' champion, but Golovkin would have landed more and probably stopped him.

Canelo has good movement and doesn't let Golovkin's power shots to hit him with accuracy. He also counters back so that Golovkin backs off.

Let's see what happens at 168.

Because it's not easy to KO a man with a very good chin and an excellent defense, even if you hit hard. You could tell Álvarez was bothered by a headshot a time or two, but he collected himself well, showed a good poker face and continued to box responsibly. Golovkin never had a glaring opportunity to follow up on a hurt Canelo.

It's worth adding that Golovkin, while a really strong puncher, isn't the biggest hitter middleweight's ever seen.
