Andy Ruiz with his T-rex arms shocked the world dropping AJ multiple times in what could only be described as his best win to date. Understandably the money and fame went to his head and he disgraced himself in the rematch but made the usual platitudes of "I'll be back stronger than before" etc. He becomes involved with a new trainer in Reynoso and to show off his skills gets dropped by Arreola and looked worse to me than he ever has. Now he's lined up Tyrone Sprong for his next match. Oof. Question of the day: Why is he fighting lesser opponents and looking worse?
Motivation is gone Seen it plenty of times before. If Miller got his AJ payday he would have been gone. Wilder will likely go unless he's bored senseless & enjoys training. Whyte will be gone after Fury bar some easy paydays. Usyk will be gone very soon also. I think Fury would find a reason to stay IF his body wasn't giving him issues. Complacency is how you end up losing.
His trainer being Reynoso might just mean he basically has no trainer at all. Didn't a couple people leave Reynoso because he spent most of his time with his #1 and #2?
You'd think Andy could jump the line because of the HW financial premium but I'm sure his training mentality went over like a lead balloon there.
Same thing that happened to Douglas after beating Tyson. He lost his hunger after winning in a huge upset.
Lack of discipline and lack of motivation, against Arreola he looked pretty bad considering that Arreola even managed to knock him down...
Always struggled with dedication. Had one great day and got rich. Now struggling with dedication more than ever. Plus he's in his 30s now and whatever ability he had to shed weight in camp is diminished. Seems to me like he's going to go for a couple of easy touches and then look for a cash out fight. I could see him being Hrgovich's first "big" fight.
It's not like Andy Ruiz was great up until the Joshua rematch. Andy Ruiz was a slovenly, ordinary fighter. He was so bad and disappointing, Bob Arum dumped him at the start of 2019. Ruiz begged PBC for a spot buried on a Danny Garcia undercard. He got that. A little over a month later, he got a last minute title shot and won. And, true to form, he's looked like his old ordinary self ever since. The question isn't why is Andy Ruiz regressing? He isn't regressing. Other than one fight, he's never been impressive. He's been dumped by his last two promoters. The question is how in the hell did Joshua ever lose to him? Joshua should've stopped him in that third round when he put him down. That's the level of Andy Ruiz.
It may be a funny line, but many fat people are not especially "hungry" but are obese for many reasons-sometimes metabolic, often behavioral , genetics play a part... Ruiz does not have T-Rex arms, at a 74" they likely are slightly longer than his height, assuming like most guys it is exaggerated. But being fat they look shorter. But most everyone is correct about his motivation.
