Joshua Clottey vs Ricky Hatton, who wins?

Hatton. He tried to win his fights a lot more.

 

I’m a Joshua Clottey fan….thank you for acknowledging that he’s underrated

 

Clottey would win at 147 Hatton did nothing impressive at Welterweight, the only issue is sometimes Clottey could go into a shell. But with his size and strength i don't think that would be an issue vs the smaller Hatton, who as i said wasn't that impressive at Welterweight he's 1-3 at that weightclass.

 

Lol Clottey would beat Hattons ass, you serious? Hatton was rubbish at 147, his only win there being a robbery vs Luis Collazo in which he got beat up.

 

Clottey easily at 147. Hatton wasn’t good at that weight.

 

At 147 definitely Clottey. Too big and strong for Ricky.

 

He was in form for Mayweather. Calm down.

 

BTW Clottey wasn’t really better than Collazo.

 

I dont think Hatton's mauling style would work well here. Clottey was strong and good at fighting in close quarters. Clottey takes this in my opinion.

 

Clottey was definitely better than the Pac fight would suggest and he was an absolutely gigantic welterweight. But he did have activity issues in other fights and Hatton, despite being a tiny 147 did show his power carried.

Tough to call but I’ll say Hatton aggression gets him a hard fought UD

 

When was Hatton's power proven at 147 ? apart from a flash knockdown in the first 10 seconds of the fight vs Collazo, Hatton never made any impression on Collazo. Or in any of his other fights he fought at 147. He's 1-3 at Welterweight with his only win being a disputed one at that.

 

You know what you’re right, thanks for that. I was thinking the JLC body shot KO was at 147 as well because it was right before Mayweather but it wasn’t. Clottey might have taken it then.

 

I don’t think Hatton really trained well for Collazo, but he was really good for Mayweather. (Bringing up the Sechenko fight is idiocy.)

Clottey never had much of a resume. His peak was basically edging a past prime Judah in a dirty fight and competitively losing to Cotto. The writing is on the wall that Hatton from the Mayweather fight would outhustle him.

 

You thought he edged Judah? Maybe my memory is serving me wrong, but he was starting to break Judah down and the tide was quickly turning in his favour. Judah did look good in that fight but it was obvious he was starting to fall apart from Clottey's pressure.
