Mike Tyson is the perfect example of a boxer who came at the wrong time his prime years were in the mid to late 80s and he was between the two greatest decades of heavyweight the 70s and the 90s.
Of course he fought in the 90s but after prison and with his fighting style he was only 50 % of the 80s fighting machine.
It gives me chills when I think what would happen if Tyson would fight in the 70s there would be fights made that would be from another world.
    Tyson-Ali, Tyson-Foreman, Tyson-Frazier ...
and we would know who's the real daddy of heavyweight boxing.

he still would of had to come against buchanan. duran reckons that KB was the best he ever fought at LW

I reckon that KB would of got the best of a 3 or 4 fight series

    Harry Willis
    Sam Langford
    Charley Burley
    Jerry Quarry

All would have been champions in any other eras

Don't forget Sonny Liston. With a different champion than Patterson he would of got a title shot much earlier, racked up title defenses, and be viewed better.

Not only that, but when he did become champion, it came at a time where there was a young, prime Muhammad Ali who is arguably the greatest ever and a stylistic nightmare for Liston.

isnt it eubanks and benn that people complain about jones not fighting?

as for the poster that said TOney wasnt at his peak when he fought jones, that is crazy.

Jerry Quarry was the FIRST name that popped into my head. Even tough he was a smaller HW, he would be the dominant man in the division today.

That was the first fighter that I thought of when I read the title of this thread. He would probably hold one of the ABC titles if he were fighting against today's welterweights.

I always thought Juan Laporte came around during a really tuff era. Had he come around now at the feather, and jr light weight division he would reign supreme. IN his prime he only lost to Alexis Arguello,SAlvador Sanchez, Julio Cesar Chavez and wilfredo Gomez! THey were all good close fights and Laporte never hit the deck!

Yawn you are just a hater, maybe if people didn't find the main man so boring the division wouldn't need saving.
