Right. And to pick a cruiserweight to beat him is the final insult. No cruiserweight has held the lineal title since the 90s. That includes Usyk.

Yeah, Usyk can make himself a little bigger if he eats his Wheaties, but so could Jones, Byrd, and Toney. The bottom line is that Usyk fought most of his career in a smaller division, and we shouldn't squint at him to try to make him look bigger now. I know that people like to cite Usyk to prove that other little guys like Louis could compete today, but it just ain't so. Once a cruiser, always a cruiser.

I looked in vain for a Viking longship smiley to reply with.

You'll just have to make do with this one: :rocker:

I know nothing about him. I'm not disrespecting him. I'm literally only talking about Usyk's size. You're making a very small size difference into the difference between Fury and Marciano or something.

Not a lineal champion since the 90s.

The age of cruiserweights ended the moment that big, A-level athletes like Tire Iron Jones started arriving in numbers.

Not sure what's going on here. Feel like I walked into an inside joke I'm not in on.

Actually Foreman was even smaller, he weighed in with combat boots and clothes on.

This is thorough knowledge and research right here folks. Adam Pollack would be proud.

Perhaps a book is begging - In The Ring and The Big House with George Tire Iron Jones? It might require two volumes.

If you start now, I will pre-order, even if projected completion is several years hence - even if it doesn’t take that long, make it take that long - it will lend to the bonafides of your painstaking research. . It’s a huge story to tell and it has to be done properly. The real TRUTH needs to be told.

PS - Adam seems like a nice guy and all but he WILL cut the grass on you unless you make haste. He’s probably reading this right now (more than likely, he’s not, nor will he ever)

In many ways, the world of books and publishing is as brutal as boxing itself. One day, on TOP of the world Ma, the next, you’re on the trash heap, prior dribbling sycophants no where to be seen.

No kidding; Jones's life is a bottomless well of stories. Speaking of: I'm trying to track down the source of the rumor that Croce's "Leroy Brown" was based on Jones. Croce always credited a guy he knew in the NJ National Guard as his inspiration, but then again, Jones did have that short, Riddick Bowe-esque brush with the army recruiters before he killed the guy in Colorado...
