True. Haye has never got a prediction right in his life. Great opportunity to make money if you're a betting man. Just choose the opposite of whoever he picks.

We've gotten our wires crossed, friend. I'd agree that he was daunted by the task (I'd said as much throughout the couple months of build-up), but I believe he came to put his best foot forward, with a significant part of him believing he could pull it off. There's a distinction between being daunted and checking out altogether. Wilder was clearly daunted before II and III, but he never gave up on himself. I don't believe Whyte did, either — a man doesn't pull himself off the canvas with that kind of effort if he never had the belief and desire at the opening bell.

The radio silence, I feel, was a matter of Whyte realizing Fury would always have the upper hand in verbal exchanges and so looking to shield his morale while denying his rival that edge. He figured other guys had made an error in stepping into Fury's world, and he wasn't going to repeat it. Didn't ultimately help him any, but I get why he went that route.

(I'll grant you that it was amusing to see a mouth like Whyte's suddenly turn reluctant with the soundbites, and I made the most of that.)

Anyway, sometimes a more advanced guy just takes your gameplan(s) and your best tools away from you. To many observers on the sidelines, you'll appear to be failing to equal previous efforts in which you enjoyed more success, though you may actually be performing out of your skin just keeping it somewhat competitive. Anyone who has boxed at any level — hard, competitive, good quality sparring / amateur competition / professional competition — has experienced this. Nobody who has boxed hasn't experienced it at some point.

There is a limit to what could fairly be demanded from Dillian Whyte tonight, a reasonable cap on the versatility he could be expected to demonstrate, given who he has been in his career thus far. Every micro level attempt at adjustment was negated and answered by Fury, and you could see it happening.

He gave it his best shot and came up short. I've given him a hard time for the big league crap he's talked in the past, but I feel he lost respectably and thus I see no shame in him falling to the world's champ.

That Wilder is far less cautious but also far more durable than Whyte.

The finish made up for the scrappiness imo. I think all things considered this was a decent fight.

But it kinda takes away from how impressive it is that Fury shut out and then knocked out the best available HW in the world.

I still think Usyk beats him, but I don't know if it's bias clouding me because he's the smaller man and I love a good upset.

Nope, he won the WBC belt for the first time when he beat Wilder in 2020.

I didn't like the noises coming out of Whytes camp all week. There seemed far to much victim mentality and his trainer was saying things like "there is no possible way Fury can win this fight". They needed a reality check and it got delivered to them.

WTF? Wilder took a beating for 11 rounds while gassing after being grabbed in headlocks and leaned on all night by a 277lbs man, the first hard shot Fury hit Whyte with it was over, same as against AJ and Povetkin.

Did you miss the whole part about Wilder being FAR MORE DURABLE than Whyte?

Jimmy White would have given Fury a tougher fight

I'm saying that Fury is a totally different and more difficult proposition than either AJ or Del, who are the best 2 heavys that Usyk has fought. Fury has power, he has speed and reflexes, he can maul and smother, has long arms and a good jab and controls distance effectively. He's a very difficult man to beat because 6 ft 9 280 lb men don't normally move around like he can.
