Lou Savarese vs Joe Mesi - 12 Rounds: Who Wins?

Wasn't Joe mesis career thwarted by teddy atlas? I remember him having an agenda to publicly bash baby Joe about a blood clot on the brain, possibly defimating him to a certain extent? I remember baby Joe and his father claiming he passed the physical s and still could fight. But then all of a sudden he retired. He never did have his dream of fighting Mike Tyson. Perhaps jirovs cuncussing punches damaged him permanently. Also on the other hand, he did a great job on the commentary during the Floyd versus Gatti night, very eloquent. "I don't see Floyd being beat by anybody" he said, thanks to being fast with his hands and fast on his feet.

 

Mesi would beat Lou up badly. Mesi was a pretty talented guy. A little undersized for the division but he had talent. It's a shame what happened to him in the Jirov fight.

 

I think Mesi KO's him, mid rounds maybe?

 

Well that's debatable whether or not Savarese is more durable, because Mesi never got stopped in his career. And Savarese was stopped 3 times by Tyson in 60 seconds, David Izon in 5, and Kirk Johnson in 4. And i remember Savarese being badly hurt by Lance Whitaker aswell. The biggest feat Savarese had showing his durability, was going 12 with an ancient Foreman. But so did Crawford Grimsley and he wasn't known for his durability.

Mesi got floored once by Monte Barrett, and the knockdowns against Jirov was when he had blood clot on the brain. Which i believe was caused by the 1st knockdown, which wasn't actually a legit knockdown. It was an illegal blow to the back of Mesi's head. And after that Mesi showed signs of not being right. So i'm gonna give Mesi the benefit of the doubt against Jirov, because the man had a frigging blood clot and survived the fight, and that injury was caused by the rabbit punch i believe.

Savarese fought better fighters i agree, but how many of them did he beat ? most of his best wins are against fossils like Witherspoon and Douglas, against fighters in his own era he normally lost everytime he stepped up.

Mesi for me showed more talent than Savarese and he would win.

 

Mesi was a good boxer. I think he wins by ko late.

 

I like Lou and thought he deserved the win against Foreman. That being said he was moved waaaaaay too slow and it really came back to hurt him when he did step up. I always wondered if his management was trying to recreate the Cooney blueprint somehow. Anyway Mesi was also moved carefully but still beat a few decent guys as he was stepping up until his Jirov injury and I think he showed he was limited but still had enough to beat Savarese

 

I'll also add on though I like Lou (despite his being moved too slow) and me thinking Mesi wins, a Savarese win also wouldn't shock me.

I also never cared for Mesi. It seemed he got a whole bunch of hype real quick for no real reason I could see. He signed with Sugar Ray Leonard and his promotional company who didn't last long and he was headlining ESPN cards, being on the cover of Ring Magazine and getting HBO dates. I feel like they were trying a little too hard to make him a thing before he really ever beat a top guy

 

I never said it was weak I said it was "debatable" whether or or not Savarese was more durable than Mesi. Because we have evidence of Savarese being stopped multiple times, where as Mesi never got stopped.

Savarese fought better competition, but pretty much lost everytime he stepped up so it's a double edged sword.

I think Mesi was the more talented fighter of the two, which is why I'd favour Mesi.
