I find Smith incredibly frustrating to watch. Does the same thing over and over again. He's very tough but I find his fights pretty boring if I'm being honest. He's stuck in that fringe world bracket, where he can compete at world but isn't good enough to be truely competitive to win.
It wasn't bad, I kept reminding myself though that Vargas was coming off a 2 year hiatus and moving up a weightclass, he isn't a spring chicken now either. He wasn't a top fighter at 147, so wasn't expecting much tbh It's a tough one for Smith because he lost quite clearly to Munguia, who I don't particularly rate. I think he's on the slide now and expect it to show if he gets a title fight against a decent champion.
Very strong division. I think it was a really good fight, Smith is great value. Has tremendous grit and punch reportaire.
First time I’ve heard Smith being called boring! For me he’s always in entertaining fights, you know he’s going to stand and trade and give as good as he’s got. Brilliant chin, massive heart and always comes to fight. As said previously he’s probably the most underrated Brit of the past decade and one of the most underrated in world boxing too.
Prepare to get your mind blown by this bombshell of a news that shook the whole world of boxing. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/dean-whyte-is-not-dillians-brother.633857/
I haven’t even seen the fight yet but I never understood people questioning how much he has left in the tank. I just don’t see anything in his performances that warrant that. He was superb against Fowler and that cheating Russian coward.
I'd love to see Liam Smith against Israil Madrimov next if he can't get a World Title shot or a fight against Tzuyu in Australia.
