I think he could have beaten all those men. Some of them with greater difficulty than Ali and some with less depending on styles. Evander vs Chuvalo would be a fun fight to watch. Two durable guys who could both punch and with not an ounce of quit
Evander had a bad habit of talking about how he was going to box and then, after getting hit, starting a brawl. He would be throwing a ten or fifteen punch combination back like a mad lad. Against a guy like Liston, he's not floating like Ali, he's being Evander and he is getting stopped.
I never thought about this sort of question. I think you could give this line up to a fair few guys to steam roll. Evander would’ve hurt Liston bad, the rest of the line up well I’m not sure how long they’d last the only one that does not get totally minced is Ernie but he’d lose near every round.
A frustrating fight for Evander Holyfield would have been against Ernie Terrell, his height, 6'6, weight 215 would have been difficult. Also Terrell's clutch and grab style would have proved difficult. The last man to kayo Ernie in the 1960's was Cleveland Big Cat Williams in April 1962.
Well he beats Liston that s for definite. Sonny was knackered in that fight. Rematch. Ko quickly. He beats Floyd, Cooper, London and zora all by ko. Chuvalo, surprisingly goes the distance! Terrell could be a toughie but that's cos he was so damn akward. I see Milldenburger giving him a close fight until Holyfield nails him. William s maybe sees a few more rounds but eventually he goes by ko.
Liston isnt besting Evander with that bum shoulder. I think Patterson, Chuvalo, Mildenberger and Terell would be competitive fights, with Holyfield winning all of them. The rest get beaten emphatically.
That night Sonny was not in fighting condition. He had the power still but 4 rounds tops and he would be gassed. I think Evander could survive the early storm to win against this version of Liston. A 1960 Sonny Liston would a problem.
