Shakur is not a great fighter, Cotto and Hatton were better than Shakur is now as was Manny when Floyd beat him.

Spence is a lot bigger than anybody Floyd beat, including Canelo because he is taller and longer than Canelo.

Simple really. You've picked the bones out of Mayweather's resume, name-checked five current fighters you say are greater than anyone he's fought but not sifted through their resumes and held them up to the same scrutiny. Who have Boots, Shakur, or Davis fought that warrants such high regard and a favourable comparison to an ATG? Same could be said of Crawford and Spence to a lesser degree.

And when you found names on his boxing record which didn't fit this framework, you just waved a hand and said 'meh, too old'. You started out with the conclusion and then looked for a way to establish it. That's never convincing.

Flawed methodology resulted in a flawed conclusion. That's what's wrong...

Cotto is a 4 weight champion. Porter one weight. Cotto has a far better resume. Case closed.

It's easy to look back and say the fighters he fought weren't ****. But living through it and seeing the build up for the amount of fighters that were supposed to beat him was staggering. His resume is almost perfect only missing perhaps 2 or 3 names, albeit ones that he would have struggled with.

    The thread starter is right...

...about it being an unpopular opinion.

    Because it is wild.

Ennis? Floyds got 20+ wins better than one over Ennis would be. And 20+ wins that would be Ennis' best.

Shakur? Great win last night buuuuut... I wont bother with this one.

Spence and Crawfords whole career resume combined is very much inferior to Floyds WW resume.

And Davis... as in Gervonta? Ha. Thanks for the laugh.

Even with his so-called cherrypicking, Floyd was still an AMAZING talent; the kind that comes along once, MAYBE twice in a generation.

I'm no fan of Mayweather's but this era is about as bad as the era Floyd fought in. So I would say Floyd fought plenty of fighters as good as Spence or Crawford (I rate DLH/Canelo higher than both of them). But there are plenty of fighters I rate below Spence and Crawford that are touted as good wins for Mayweather, like Corrales and Hatton who are both vastly overrated.

So I would disagree with you, it's probably more of a wash if anything.

Spence and Crawford still have a lot to prove. But I believe that they’re better than the specific versions of Oscar and Canelo who Floyd fought.

I think that Spence and Crawford would have been much more problematic to Floyd too.

Disagree.... based on skill, Ennis and Crawford are more skilled than anyone Floyd has fought.
