Exactly. Look at when members of the plod squad Whyte and Chisora have fought Fury. It's ended with Fury shouting to the ref to show mercy and stop the fight before he hurt them even more. Fury never got out of 2nd gear.
He would school him. But would he school him for the full fight or 99.99% of it. Usyk can take a shot, but can he take one of Wilders best shots ? That is different to a Joe Joyce hitting you (especially with a headguard on).
Usyk is better defensively than Fury, no way would he be as reckless as Fury was in his third figt v Wilder and he`s quicker than Wilder and a southpaw, Ortiz was out-boxing Wildder in both of their match-ups until getting caught, Fury got hit more by Wildder than Ortiz did.
Uysk is not better defensively than Fury. At heavyweight he gets hit with more shots than Fury statistically. Fury fought that way as he had a 3 week training camp. Usyk would box Wilders head off, no doubt, whilst fight lasted. But unlike Fury he does not have the reach advantage, so that would leave him more defensively vulnerable to Wilder landing 1 big bomb.
If Wilder hits you with his right hand he will put you over, it's that simple. & you can't avoid it. I don't care how competent you are defensively. When he finds that split second timing window over 36 minutes he'll hit it.
He couldn't hurt Fury in 3 fights... his power is overrated. Flash knockdowns in the first fight after Fury long lay off , when Fury gets back up and shows no ill effects isn't exactly an indication of much. Fury been knocked over by a cruiserweight. Wilder good at knocking out tomato cans, thats it.
Usyk is class but seriously disadvantaged by the height difference and Fury's footwork. It's still good enough to keep stepping off and forcing the smaller fighter to have to take risks by trying to move inside. I know I'm simplifying it but I believe it's a case of a big good fighter beating a smaller good fighter.
That's it pal. Same reason why in mythical match ups I would give Fury a real good chance against anyone. Usyk is a small heavyweight compared to Fury but still taller and heavier then Mohammed Ali was.
The Fury that fought in the third fight is not more elusive than Usyk. Fury can't dance like he used to so he has to trade whch made for a very exciting and entertaining spectacle against Wilder but it also saw him nearly stopped. Usyk is tough, seriously tough, he can also move well for a heavy and has great ring IQ, it's that that has gotten him where he is today, he schooled two elite level Cruisers in Gassiev and Briedis, let's not forget that.
Fury has a 3 week training camp for the Wilder 3 fight because of the serious situation with his newborn daughter. So yes he properly rightly felt he never had the fitness to get on his toes and move round the ring for 12 rounds. That and fact he realised vest way to beat Wilder was to go on front foot and get him on the back foot.
I get what you're saying although I'm not sure if the whole thing with the baby disrupted the camp as much as it was made out and I very much doubt he had a 3 week camp, this is Tyson Fury we're talking about. Either way I don't think Wilder is number 2 in the World, for me it's Usyk, an unbeaten World Champion, one of the greatest Cruisers of all time and an incredibly skillful and clever boxer for a heavy. Anthony Joshua, the version after the first Ruiz fight, is no mug, he's not half as bad a boxer as people like to believe and Usyk ran rings around him.
Usyk - Joyce was in the WSB, no headguards. Usyk has faced big punchers like Joshua, Gassiev, Huck, Breidis in the pros. Majidov, Nistor, Joyce in the WSB. Beterbiev, Mekhonstev, in the amateurs and plenty more and never been down ever. I've gotta fancy there's a 95 to 99% chance Usyk manages to avoid Wilder landing fully cleanly or manages to survive if he does. Wilder could be damaged goods now too after that brutal last Fury KO defeat
