    Jimmy Ellis falls into a time of 1960, Ingo is champ, Sonny Liston is around. Imagine Ellis wakes up, it is 1960, he has potential fights against Cleveland Williams, deposed champion Floyd Patterson, or maybe Eddie Machen or maybe even Sonny Liston. What happens to Jimmy in this era?

    I can't see him beating any of those names tbh. His best chance is against Machen imo.

    He probably beats a lot of guys but he’s not beating Liston Patterson Ingo or Johnson…he’s a toss up against Machen and Zora beats everyone else.

    True, since Eddie Machen went 12 rounds with Sonny Liston in Sept 1960, and Zora Folley was kayoed by Liston in the same year.

    Imagine Jimmy Ellis in the same ring with Ingo before June 20 1960, that is when Floyd Patterson regained the title from Johansson.

    Good Fighter Ellis was. He's a live one against all those mentioned apart from Liston who would have manhandled and battered him.
    Ellis against Johansson, Patterson, Machen, Foley and Williams are all good fights and could go either way.

    Seeing as a past prime Patterson was robbed against a prime (or near prime) Ellis, I doubt that fight is going "either way".

    He wouldn't be able to hold up against that kind of power imo. Williams just wasn't a crude slugger but an excellent boxer to boot as well (as much as many here like to put him down).

    It wouldn’t have been a good time for him to be in title contention. He’d be competitive enough to make the top 10 but not very high
