It may not be politically correct, but this "decline" is also tied with enhancing drugs... some parts of the world suddenly became competitive as soon as the pharmaceutical science made some progress...

Probably these 2 Vargas fights: Javier castillejo and that other guy who had a crown on his head (was it Raymond joval)? It just looked depressing for Vargas, no satisfaction, nor content with winning just going through the motions. A different warrior than the one in the hoya and Trinidad fight. He mos def lost his killer appetite, to be fair he did a lot of technical boxing in those fights, so it wasn't like it was a poor performance. He even used the Mayweather shoulder roll a couple of times.

Depends which way you see it, that is what makes the sport divide opinions and leaves it open for great debates, but yeah some would argue your point and I get why.

Can't remember exactly how long it was...maybe 6 months. But I couldn't watch a fight after seeing Maxim Dadashev basically passing away before my eyes on live TV.

I could see how badly hurt Maxim was, and got deja-vu back to Magomed Abdusalamov vs. Mike Perez.

I was screaming at the TV because I could see how badly hurt Magomed was. The screaming was that he needed to be in the back of an ambulance and on the way to hospital.

I felt hopeless watching Maxim getting taken to the ambulance. In my heart I sensed he wasn't going to survive. And he ****en didn't. And it shattered me.

Patrick Day really got to me too. As did Leavander Johnson, Davey Brown, Dwight Ritchie, Lance Hobson...I could keep going.

When I did start watching fights again, I was cringing if a fighter was getting hurt. I went backwards and watched a few fights that I'd missed, and I realised I was only really watching a fight if the two fighters boxed etc. and no one got badly hurt.

Somewhere along the line I started to feel a bit better watching fights again.

And now in my 50's I'm a registered boxing coach. It's my job to make sure a fighter never gets seriously hurt, if I possibly can.

I worked the corner for Yotchanchai Yakaeo alone, who fought Aussie prospect Brock Jarvis. That's the only pro fight I've worked. All the rest are amatuer.

Some people think I push for some fights to get stopped early. And in some ways I do. Because I never want to see a fighter pass away again.

    Reid v Otkke
    Vasquez v Ritson
    Taylor v Catterall

Just the pointlessness of watching a fight when the scorecards are predetermined. In tbe case of Vasquez, he was a big price and I backed him. He won the fight but got screwed. I realised it was the worst bet I'd ever had because he literally couldn't win.

I know the bell was about to ring and Taylor was up on the cards but why steal a legit stoppage win from Chávez if Taylor had gotten dropped then just bounced back up and was ready to go I would have called shenanigans myself but he was out

I know mate, I was only going off my reaction at the time, but you can see how decisions like that create serious debates which is good, as Angelo Dundee once said, Controversy it's dynamite I love it, people want to see some more!!
