This content is protected Obviously a good number for women's boxing but.... This was probably the most heavily marketed event of the year to date. 1.5m people a cross 170 countries doesn't exactly seem brilliant. Given they have 250,000 subs in this country that would account for 1/6th of the views. The number looks from a worldwide quite underwhelming, given they have actually released this number. Makes you wonder what Okolie and Benn are doing.
Saw this earlier and thought those were really good numbers for the US audience. I thought all the anorak wearing women's boxing fans had proven me wrong. Then I realised it was globally lol. Now don't get me wrong, that's still not bad for a women's fight, but it just shows you how far removed from reality all the absurd hype and arse kissing we've had to endure about this fight has been. Up there with Ali vs Frazier apparently.
Really opens the question on how many subs they have. This would be a "feature" cards. So if you're paying you must surely tune into thso one
For a global audience its very very solid. Most other fights do not get access to global audiences or the audiences are exrtremely low. For instance some of the Top Rank shows on Sky peak at less than 25k views. This is in the UK one of the largest boxing markets. Many of the countires DAZN operates in boxing is not a mainstream and very much a niche sport.
what do they mean by "viewership" very hard to take any figures seriously unless they are independently collated.
Probably the most heavily invested card of the year in terms of PR. Global number doesn't exceed US alone got Shakur
Would have smashed that figure in Ireland alone if on at peak time and TV. DAZN UK is out of sight, out of mind to the general public with hardly any subscribers. The fight deserved a proper TV platform.
Nothing to shout about when she got over 2 million just on Sky a few years back. Granted sky plugged it and made it free to air and on digital channels. https://www.irish-boxing.com/sky-sports-reveal-massive-katie-taylor-tv-viewing-figures/
Only the US and UK have boxing solely on DAZN. Those two countries make up less than 40% of DAZNs subscriber base. On top of this this is a live figure not people that are still logging in now and watching the fight.
You won’t get that from any streaming service unfortunately, from Netflix to Amazon Prime. It’s all shrouded in secrecy.
That includes 1.5m on Facebook and 500k on Youtube after the fight. on a replay had 600k viewers on TV
And Ali vs Frazier, which this fight has been repeatedly compared to, was watched by over 300 million people. It did OK, nothing more nothing less, some people need to get a grip.
