I recall Hearn hinted at some sort of fta deal when joining dazn but nothing came from it. Wonder if this is the start of it?

    Fantastic news.

Eddie Hearn / Matchroom should try to arrange some "young prospects" shows broadcast live on BBC Three. It would be a great showcase for new young boxers and give them an identity.

They should do this for all the big fights on the DAZN platform- at least it gets the DAZN branding out there.

Funny how the BBC have never replayed any of the excellent non-female fights broadcast by DAZN, such as Wood-Conlan, which dropped a huge crap on Taylor-Serrano from a massive height. It's almost as if there's some kind of social engineering program afoot...

The timing could have something to do with MTK though. See what happens moving forward

I get what you are saying, however promoting women's sport is never a bad thing.

I said this last night when I spotted it on. I was very offended and found it sexist.

I’m guessing you also get offended by the MOBO awards?

Well, no, now that you mention it. I scarcely ever notice them to be offended by them. Funnily enough, the last time I recall noticing the MOBO awards, it was because some (offended) party or other was screeching about whitey winning one of the trinkets (or being nominated for one, my memory is vague).

Maybe you thought your post was clever, but there isn't really a parallel there.

The MOBO awards are clearly marked, Music of Black Origin. If some party or other wants to start an awards ceremony to honor music of black origin (however they define that), it's of no more particular annoyance to me than the Grammys or the MTV VMAs or the Brits or any other crappy awards ceremony. I put no store in awards ceremonies in general.

I'm referring to the BBC's seeming lack of interest in replaying any of the excellent non-female bouts DAZN have broadcast prior to this sudden desire to signal-boost a boxing event that happens to come with a built-in social justice angle. Let's face it, the BBC has hardly been a great friend to the sport for most of the twenty-first century.

If the corporation henceforth makes a habit of replaying notable additions to DAZN's catalogue, my cynicism toward this move will be somewhat put in check, won't it? If not, said cynicism will be somewhat vindicated, won't it? Let's see...

BBC has shown Olympic qualifiers and various amateur stuff no other broadcaster would touch tbf. Due to the way the BBC is funded there's no chance it could really step into the pro game at all. Itv and channel 5 can't really make it work and they show adverts and don't need to justify every penny spent.

BBC getting various big events on delayed highlights would be good. Better than dazn just giving it to YouTube on its own a few days later.

If replays of Shanny's fights are also shown on the BBC, she will turn into an even bigger Superstar.

It was a very good fight last weekend but Conlan v Wood was an absolute firecracker. For a womens fight, and I’m not being sexist here, it was a belter. A normal womens world championship fight is basically a load of flailing about, with no power and low quality due to a lack of strength in depth. Look through the male boxing rankings, even with 4 champions, it’s very difficult to pick up a belt ( with a very few exceptions). Ask Luke Campbell and he was an Olympic champion.
